Interesting idea, but not sure how that would work. If ST is only used to enhance a public address setup, perhaps some priority could be given voice frequencies. In a complex music / talk application, my guess is the input would be too unpredictable.

Where I noticed what I think you may be seeing, reducing the filter's range seems to help. Don't give it too much authority.

I do notice that the filter keeps the AGC position much more consistent, which seems to reduce the workload on the first multiband stage. That alone makes this worthwhile, as I hear things. It also seems to have a real benefit when ST's used in a (US) AM transmitter configuration.

Overall, it could be a good addition. Looking forward to being able to test it in a formal environment.

Are you still using 5 bands? The more bands you use the more difficult it becomes to keep things 'sane'. Beside that, make sure that all the bands are in the center (no action) for your average content.

I have not yet seen this effect... might need to test some more voice recordings.

Edit: Just ran some speech through it but I don't really see much happening. All that happens is that the lowest and highest band are boosted. However if I go back to normal music I don't hear anything weird happening. Do you have a sample where it misbehaves?

Have made several changes in both experimental, MBs settings and clipper. My objective was to attempt to keep as much of the original dynamics intended by the producing sound engineer, and bring along a nice bassy sound and a bright voice tone, oh and be suitably loud enough for FM.

OK, then I probably used it wrong. I had now played for a while with the 5 bands and try around a lot. Sending an example is currently difficult because I do not have the files here.

Could you perhaps give me your recommended settings? Then I can check this as soon as I have access to my data again. If the problems then no longer occur, then I used the module completely wrong. Maybe I am just too stupid to adjust the new module properly ....

The default settings (you can set Effect strength to 100%) should be close...

I don't really know how to best use it either, but too many bands, especially with steep slopes, will likely cause problems with the slow speeds that we're adjusting things with.

I would stick with the default crossovers for now. You can use the target levels if you want your MB to see a little different curve. Agree with Hans, using steep slopes, or too many bands will get you into trouble.

Good news. I got it now once again in peace with the default settings and a few bands tried. Then I have reduced the threshold as far as possible, that there is no adjustments with an optimal piece of music.

And yes, that result is really significantly better than it has ever been. I also now reduced the effect strength. Then it is now not so obtrusive. 3 - maximum 5 bands seem to be ideal.

Just one more question. Will there be an extended noise reduction in the bands? Especially with older sound recordings, where the entire heights are very badly increases the effect halt clearly the noise. The noise gate has already removed a lot of noise. Or could the noise gate be somehow combined with the new spectrum effect, and so might prevent the amplification in such cases? That would be the most brilliant solution.

I've always liked the original MB1 settings as it had a more natural sound so I'm back playing with this config.
This has the experimental features enabled to even up the spectrum and the new AGC.
Try toggling bypass and listening to the original production.

The command line version can be used as a stand-alone application from the command line.
(Right click and use Save As...).

Usage: stereo_tool_cmd.exe input.wav output.wav settings.sts
input.wav is an existing 16-bit uncompressed stereo WAV (or raw audio) file, - for piped input.
output.wav is a 16-bit uncompressed stereo WAV (or raw audio) file, - for piped output.
settings.sts is the full absolute path to an STS (Stereo Tool Settings) file.
Examples:
stereo_tool_cmd infile.wav outfile.wav -s C:\st\settings.sts
lame --decode in.mp3 - | stereo_tool_cmd - - -s C:\st\settings.sts | lame - out.mp3
Type stereo_tool at the command line for more information.

now about this version 8.41 i have done in spectrum correction- 9 bands in flat band tops and i have a problem in high freq above 9000 as you told before ...but for AM modulation is ok
