That's getting better, but I still would have to go to "Bands" to do the settings that aren't in that menu node.

I keep hearing the thing about the old one being "confusing" and what not. I just don't understand that. The only thing confusing for me was the actual numeric measurements and what they meant. For example, what in the world is a downspeed of 0.000005? What is being multiplied by 0.000005? Is it actually being divided and not multiplied? Things like that are TECHNICAL, and thus what was really lacking was either a better help section, or tooltips. I did not have any problem at all with understanding the actual visual appearance or knowing where to go to get something done.

I was trying to post screen shots of Creative Labs' software earlier, but the web site tanked with a 502 Bad Gateway. I'm not going to post as many things as I tried to earlier, but I want to mention that I, and probably quite a few other intermediate-to-advanced users would prefer something like the X-Fi Audio Creation Mode:



Yes, that would confuse the living daylights out of other folks, and isn't touchscreen-friendly, but there are those of us who have had audio backgrounds and are familiar with mixers.

How is the readability? I'm looking at this on my 17" laptop screen which has a resolution of 1920x1080, and while I can read it without any issues it looks annoyingly small. (It's the same size as what Skype uses - but that's black on a white background, and for some reason that looks bigger to me than light on a dark background).

Bojcha's skin looks fine to me.
Dark colors go to back, special the blue ones.
Lighter colors come to front, special the yellows.

I'm going to build and post the current version again, to get feedback. The number of pages is reduced considerably (many pages have been combined into one, or at least less, pages). Top part is slightly less high than before, giving a bit (20 px) more room to the bottom section. Left menu bar is also 36 pix less wide, giving more horizontal space to the top section.

There's no basic/advanced switch yet, and nothing has been done yet to make more room to combine more in the top part. There's also a problem with pull-down menu's (text is too wide causing issues on some pages), and there's still no mu (for us) in the font.

I'm not (yet?) including Bojcha's skin yet because it has some issues that he's working on, that might be confusing.

None actually (just MFC 7.1, which is included in the Stereo Tool binary). If you don't see a GUI something must be causing an exception. I hope the next version will work again.

My opinion - and I could be wrong - is that an interface like this may work and look great for software that doesn't have too many options, but for a program like Stereo Tool (400 parameters and growing) I don't think this will work very well. (Except for that, it would be far more work to make it).

Edit: Some ideas may be usable though. Such as having a text followed by a number of checkboxes.

Yes, but that brings us back to the point where the changes are aesthetic, not technical. UI changes, not underlying quality improvements or bug fixes.

If you force an opinion on me that I should have to go out and buy a new monitor and possibly a new video card because you're unwilling to design something different, well, that's an "alienating" type of stance that you might feel ok taking with me, personally, but you run the risk of other people that do give you money that will be turned off.

Do you understand that you are looking at ONE screen shot of the equivalent of your main UI window in 6.32? There's more to it than just the one screen shot. It's just that the primary things are easy to see and change from the main window.

What I posted before was from Creative's web site. This is a shot just taken from my computer. The elipsis beside the effects launch the Effect Editor. The shot I took had the Parametric EQ editor. The choices you have are: Auto Wah, Chorus, Compressor, Digital Delay, Distortion, Flanger, Parametric EQ, Pitch Shifter, and Voice Morpher, so there are editors for those as well.
