Any suggestions for the default position of the deep bass slider?
I've got mine almost mid towards clean highs. Bout .4.

Fix for loading/saving Loudness setting uploaded.

I'll check the deep bass slider tonight - it should still work, but it works differently from before, and I'll have to check how much effect it still has on the highs. It should still make the deep lows (slightly) louder or softer.

I'll check it tonight... But it's very well possible that it has no effect on the highs and only a very limited effect on the bass. If that's the case I think I'll remove it... Or change its function to operate directly on the distortion filter instead of what it's doing now.

Yeah after testing the new build, I don't think the slider does much if anything for treble. The bass is affected slightly, but I seem to be the only one who could hear it of my listeners who helped me test it. The bass still sounds great though. Still deep enough for me and anyone who gave me feedback.

I have made 3 changes to the processing:
- The deep bass filtering based on the clear highs/deep bass slider is REMOVED. Basically that corresponds to setting the slider all the way to the right.
- I have restored a part of the old processing that should make the highs sound clearer (has nothing to do with distortion, but with ringing (bad mp3-like sounds). I noticed them when I set Loudness to 4.0... Still, it should also improve the sound at lower loudness values, although I couldn't really tell the difference. BUT: This MAY re-introduce the "edges" that some people complained about some time ago, if that's the case I'll turn this option off again.
- The clear highs/deep bass slider is still present, but now it operates directly on the distortion filter. Setting it higher allows a bit more distortion while leaving the bass sound SLIGHTLY louder. Lower settings give cleaner highs.

Turning the original deep bass/clean highs filter off has increased the lowest frequencies by - on average - another 0.8 dB...

Due to the large changes, feedback on the default deep bass/clean highs slider is - again (sorry... ) - welcome. I think it should be close to the center. Feedback on the overall sound quality is of course also always very welcome.

Remaining items on my todo list:
- Add "warm and smooth" preset DONE
- Go through the presets and see if I should make any changes
- Check if I can improve the performance of Normal and Low quality mode if both Loudness and Pre Limiter are turned on by ALWAYS bypassing the final limiter in that case.
- Fill in a default value for the "clean highs/deep bass" slider.
- Check how the RMS-based pre limiter handles deep bass sounds: It seems to respond too strong on very low frequencies.

I'll upload an update in about an hour, feedback on the difference in sound is welcome. The release will have to come a bit later - the changes to the processing had too much impact.

i must tell that after "all" i don't belive myself..
i did't listen any music 15 hours and i sit tonight..
Erlier when i say that one beta is good and have no distortion on highs today souds to have.
Because i have recorded track for most betas. today all have distortion (more or les).
i will not complain any more .. :) or not rush.

i'll only ask is it possibly to add clock (time and date) to PS in RDS? ... i ask that once.
in form:
- clock (time) HH-MM
- date DD-MM-YY

Sorry if i was little boring last months.

Update

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... r_BETA.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... r_BETA.exe
Command line: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... d_BETA.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... l_BETA.dll

Note: NOT BETA2 this time, BETA2 still contains the previous version, for comparison purposes just in case someone thinks that the quality has deteriorated.

I have the same problem all the time... One thing I've learned is that for detecting distortion, the best way is to use headphones and put the volume very low. The louder you put it the less distortion you hear! (Well, at least that's the case for my ears).

In this new version you can now configure the distortion removal more directly, so maybe - just maybe - you'll get better results... (But on the other hand the bass level is a lot higher, so you might just as well get much worse results).

Don't worry about being annoying - that's what drives innovation. I no-one had said anything I would probably still have been at version 3.40... And I'm annoying as well - I'm asking you all to listen to things that I *should* be able to hear myself. But like I said (and you noticed as well): After listening for days in a row, at some point you get so used to all the artifacts that you just stop noticing them.
