Post subject:  Which sound card?

Hello to all. After testing your great software just a little I realize that my on board sound card is a little old...Because I would like to try the Stereo and RDS functions(later) I think I have to start from a good card.Well here it is:

They are identical except the cheaper one has better converter, right?Well what do you think?
Thank you!

Oh OK then...It looked strange to me because I've read that sound card should be 192Khz
Thank you.
P.S You are using that card right? If I don't use stereo option (I have a hardware coder, it's a DIY pcb but works pretty well,at least it sounds qood),do you think it will improve sound over an intergrated sound card?Is it worth buying?

Yes we use Juli@ on our local transmitter. Before that we use Realtek Onboard Souncard (ALC889 chip).
First you must tell me what soundcard onboard You have, but anyway Juli@ is always better then any onboard souncard.
Second, i don't know how your hardware coder works .. but i am sure when you put Juli@ and StereoTool's MPX output i think you'll be surprised by audio quality.
In that configuration you have RDS and Clipper too.

My sound card is a Realtec AC97 onboard card.I think it is a standard card with limited capabilities, right?

Yes, it's only 48kHz I/O.
Realtek Soundcard with 192kHz output is marked "HD"

Ok thank you.Now that I've found you, please tell me another thing:
Will every card marked HD work?I mean not now but in the future if I decide to add Stereo and RDS?Thank you very much.

As far as i know..
Realtek habe HD Audio onboard cards and Analog Devices known as SoundMAX HD audio.

Basicly mean they are 192kHz output, and that is needed for MPX output.

In addition, there ARE 192 kHz sound cards that don't work. Anything from Creative (SoundBlaster / X-Fi) really doesn't work. But as far as I know (which is only what is reported in this forum, so it's not really a lot) others should work.

Hint: Check some hi-fi lovers forums. Usually, if they really love a card, it's very good (check the Juli@ in those forums and you'll see what I mean).
