I ended up finding one more track that had overshoots in generic mode (Monster Magnet - Space Lord). This takes care of that (barely...right channel shows peak of 0.00). Still not sure why Hard Limit cannot be enabled for Generic, as the CPU load difference is non-detectable on my system, but at least the peak is at 0 now (would be -0.45 with Hard Limit).

Attached are two files. They are the "Web" and the "Generic" versions. The only difference between them is the web-specific features (Phase Rotation, Hard Limit, MP3 output, and Loudness).

Output level of the web version is about 0.1 to 0.2 dB lower than previously. Should be an inaudible difference.

Hard Limit can be enabled, but it has bad effects on the sound since the 'simple clipper' can leave some larger spikes through.

The larger spikes are indeed problematic, and for more people than just me. There are some other presets in the generic section that also have overshoots on various tracks.

What's so difficult is keeping 600-3K sufficiently loud, but not too loud. That's something I think the new multiband does do better.

Speaking of old stuff, I just listened to Purity Control again. It overshoots (no, not going to fix it), but, in my opinion, it has better mids and highs than Cobalt. Funny how what I did then still sounds good (to me anyway). Hopefully can make a blend of the two using new multiband and eq settings.

I struggled a lot with that part of the spectrum after new MB.
I think the problem is in the AGC, where band2 is very subject to the band1 and if you control a band the other not so much.
The previous one MB, behaved more like a AGC and not a Compressor, that helped offset. ;)

This does not mean that the new MB is not better. :)

No, problem is multiband. Try singleband AGC and you will notice same.

Problem is (what i talked erlier) MB Crossovers. Not only that, they are main problem.
When sounds is directly between 2 bands sound is louder.
Things gets worse when you have less bands then 9 (7 and under.) "gap" is bigger.
At lower bands that is less noticable, but on last bands (800Hz and up) is way more noticable.

I tuned 7 bands as much as possible good, and then i got one track where loud female voice is around 1kHz wich is directly between 2 bands (4 and 5 - in 7 band preset) - and voice still not reduced as should, and there is no solution to restrain that - belive me i tried everything.

However it may sound open and in some way better. Old multiband had opposite problem.. where loud voices was actually lower then should.

All I can say is that some presets using the new multiband sound, to me, like they're handling that area of the frequency spectrum better than what I've been able to do. Now, that might be a total RMS deception, where the other presets have a higher final RMS and it makes things louder / "better". I don't know.

It is disheartening to hear the opinion about needing more than 7 bands though. That brings me back full-circle to the belief that removing the unnecessary extra calculations from the Classic multiband would be beneficial to reducing CPU load for those of us who cannot run the newer multiband at higher quality settings and/or higher number of bands.
