Post subject:  Process Priority

Greetings,

I have a question related to a setting in Configuration -> CPU and Latency; Process Priority.

I am using the latest Beta 052. Preset is Impact - by GAP v0.7.

I changed the preset Process Priority setting from High to Normal. I changed the Quality CPU Load setting from 50% to 100%. I also turned on the DeClipper.

I have taken a screenshot, but I can't find how to upload it to the forum, which shows my CPU usage in the Task Manager for Stereotool is 10%. Goes between 9% and about 14/15%.

My question is, if this is all my CPU usage is do I need to use the higher process priority? If so, what do I gain from that?

I am trialing ST for the possible use in 1, maybe 2, FM stations. Is there, or will there be, some documentation that shows what is doing what?

Thanks,
Clipper

Post subject:  Re: Process Priority

If you do other things on the pc, for example opening a web browser, Windows might give that priority over processing which can cause hiccups. If you set the priority higher, it does *not* increase the CPU load but it will make sure that Stereo Tool processing gets priority over other things that are happening on the pc. So it's generally a good idea to turn it on.

Now you might wonder why it's an option: If you just listen to some music you probably don't want things like opening a web browser to be slowed down by it. So in that case you could set it to normal.

The documentation is indeed outdated and needs to be updated...

Hans,

Thanks for the reply and explanation.

I have set it back to High.

Even though that was my first post I have been following the forums for some time and I have to compliment you on your first class support and the ongoing development of the software.

Regards,
Clipper
