Post subject:  Getting wav files from PC to laptop + creating playlist

Hi
This should go on the winamp site probably, but that is so horrible I refuse to use it, so maybe someone can sympathize.

I am creating wav files on my PC and I need to get them to my laptop and put them into a permanent playlist so I am playing from the hard drive and not from CD.

I thought I could just burn the songs to CD and then copy them from the CD to the laptop, but not so fast. When I open the D: folder I get shortcuts to the CD itself and what is on the CD is now cda and not wav. Can someone help me out please?
Thanks
Phil

Audio CD's (which can be played back on a CD player) are different from data CD's. In this case you should write the data to a data CD. (There are programs to rip WAV files from audio CD's, but since audio CD's also have less data corruption protection I wouldn't go that route if it's not needed).

(Note: The CD's themselves are of course identical, just choose "Data CD" when burning).

In case you do need to rip files off an audio CD, I can recommend a program written by a colleague of mine: CDex.

So a wav file is treated as a DATA file? (hold on, let me get one of these smiling things. No, not that one. Let's try this) :o

So I can just open the folder and copy and paste the files into a playlist and they will play back in WAV format, is that right?
Thanks
Phil
