Stereo Tool 10.70 is available!

Changes:
  • Multiband Adaptive Compressor: Added ratio linking between bands (soft mode). Sounds much warmer and less in-your-face.
  • Multiband Adaptive Compressor: Casper mode: Added escape after very extreme content. Settings is available to control it, may be needed for classical music.
  • Multiband Adaptive Compressor: Sudden Drop Protection can now work in wideband mode.
  • Multiband Adaptive Compressor: Increased range for "Make dense audio louder", needed for some songs and doesn't appear to have any drawbacks.
  • Stokkemask: Added new Gaussian formula for better and less wide shape. Sounds better, should be safe to use, but disabled by default until further testing.
  • Pre-ringing protection could cause multiband limiters to not properly control levels and sound weird (ever since version 5.00 from 2010).
  • GUI: Added visual color change between yellow and orange on input meter if it's playing backup input, to more clearly indicate that there's an issue.
  • Bug fix: WatchCat: Removed LIBZ1__.DLL dependency that caused version 2.0.17 (10.60) to not start on some systems.
  • Bug fix: Pre Amp wasn't disabed in Hear mode for early filters in chain (Declipper, Delossifier, Noise gate).
  • Bug fix: libStereoTool: Ignored plugin output level setting.
  • Bug fix: Multiband Adaptive Compressor: Matrix mode was not disabled for 1-channel inputs (plugin with mono files).
  • Updated presets.

MB1 and MB2 with adaptive compression:

Under Channels:
Is Channel separation and Channel link working? I can't get it to work no matter what the setting is. It works fine in the previous version 10.60.
Constant sum seems to be working tho...

Are you running in matrix mode, with a boost in the L-R? We did make some changes to (probably always) unwanted behavior, where matrix mode could cause the stereo separation to be reduced. That can't happen anymore, so the L-R (after compensating for the L-R boost levels) can't go below the L-R anymore. Before this change that could happen.

Other than that, I see no issues here. If this is not a matrix mode issue, can you send me your settings, and tell me exactly what to do to reproduce what you're seeing?

load preset: Adaptive Bass Monster - Open
go to MB1 and reset MB1 settings
turn MB1 on again
change channel separation to 100%
change channel linking to 0.0 dB
change compressor type to Adaptive

result is no channel linking, according to the meters at the right.
you can also change channel separation to 0% and it will still not link both channels.

however if you load Adaptive Bass Monster - Open and just changing channel linking to 0.0 dB it will work.

I don't know if this is intended behaviour, but if you only use Stereotool's MicroMP and stream outputs, you only can get a pre-emphasis audio signal on your stream. I had to add a dummy HD audio output to get the option to select e de-emphasis output for the streams. The sIgnal selection pull down box at the stream outputs is not available if you do not have a "hardware" audio output configured. For our use-case this is not very handy :)
