As I said in my earlier post, I'm all for being able to disable certain cpu intensive features, or alternatively, have different 'overall quality/strictness' settings that scale from low cpu, small speaker home audio use, right through to the best fm mpx signal you can get out on an i7. Hans seems to have accommodated those differing needs in the non-beta releases - allowing for the continuing evolution of the pc, and that we have to retire our older pc's eventually! :-)
I understand. I'm just concerned that broadcast issues are impacting home use unnecessarily. Hans mentioned something about a slider to switch which code is used. I think that would be great, as it currently crushes my system, and if something else gets added that does impact non-broadcast, and there isn't a toggle between the types of loudness/clipping, that would force me to either accept not being able to do anything else while listening to music, or just forgetting about any further enhancements and staying with release 6.21.

I still got some feedback about certain sounds that the new Loudness filter didn't handle properly, I think everything should be fine now:
Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 22-019.exe
DSP (Winamp): http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 22-019.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 22-019.dll

Basically, I'm now allowing a bit more holes in the bass and sometimes backing off the holes protection a bit (0.5 dB) to avoid getting distortion in the mids (vibrating voices) and highs.

About all the other issues:
- AGC: Hm, it should not do that. It should output nearly the same level regardless of the input level (although I knew that a small difference can occur). Note that the AGC doesn't really have a "sweet spot", any level should be fine.
- Memory usage: Going to look into that right now.
- CPU usage: That's next.

Forget this latest beta (019) - it doesn't solve the S distortion issue that I expected it to solve - it only adds more holes.

New version. Changes:
- "s" distortion protection should work now, and have very little effect on other sounds
- BS412 memory is only allocated when BS412 is used.
- S protection in Loudness is now by default turned off for not preemphasized settings; also there's now an option to use it at a lower quality setting (less protection, costs half the CPU usage of the full version). See the checkboxes in the bottom right.

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 22-020.exe
DSP (Winamp): http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 22-020.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 22-020.dll

Wonderful beta, hvz. Perfect sound even on crappy mono FM receivers, that's something I thought was impossible.

A good point of testing for holes or highs volume drop is this song. Yes we have to test when pre-emphasised .It`s right :

Also take the settings to see holes . They are noticeable .

Memory ok.

CPU, not so much. Did not notice any difference at all unchecking the options. The beta as a whole might have slightly lower CPU usage, but too early to tell if it's not the same and I'm listening to a different track than I was before.

I've also been up all night, so I'll test further later...

Edit: Looks like I'll be up for the bulk of the day anyway. Collectors, so now have to start begging to be considered or take a low-paying job that all money will just go to them. Joy.

Oh, and with me, I'm not making this up. I wish I were. :( Apologies in advance if I am cranky or crankier than normal. I'll try to not be...

Yeah you have been right. I also get the holes. But not only in these Preset. In other Presets like Web Radio Loud with new Protection (without pre emphasis and HQ) these holes are some times really big.
