Ah, okay, thanks! Does this mean that the normal and LQ settings are not reset when switching like the FM output is?

I imagine that most people will not be switching presets regularly during broadcasting but what about STS file polling?
1 - yes
2 - that's no problem because no reset occurs with polling.

I've also found some wierd (maybe a type of render or re-draw related?) anomaly when using the mouse scroll wheel after clicking on some of the drop down type menus like the RDS PTY box or sound card input selection. Wondering if anyone else has the same?
Have you noticed such behaviour Hans?
Ow, confirmed. This looks bad. Will look into it.

But I must be objective and say that professional equipment has even more ( i know middle class Sony that have 20 bands equalizer ) . Also in the studio you all know that bands are more than 30-35 ?!?
Your are talking about equalizers  Static processing !

But our controversy here is about multiband compression/expansion - you can call it dynamic (full parametric !) equalizer.
So the professional music production multiband compressors/expanders have 3 or 4-bands (or maximal 5-bands like Watabe's CP5).
Except some rare dynamic equalizer plugins with more bands (but less parametric options than traditional compressors).
So what michi if it`s static ..
This Multiband is also named Automatic equalizer ( where is needed amplify , where needed lower the level ). It`s a kind of auto equalizer with end parameters . Don`t forget it ! Also have bands which are leveled and have speeds ( imagine this with 0.0000 speeds ? Then what ? It`s a equalizer but not auto movable .
With equalizer that you call it static you also can do a compression but static compression for each song if you like .. so........ no difference . Effect is the same on the both ( amplifying and lowering ). The only difference is in the method ( one is manual , the other is automatic with end level parameters) That`s it .

If Hans put a sliders like equalizer instead of level indicators you will see an auto leveling equalizer for each song ( instead of you to set it manual for each song ) . And the rule : more bands , more flexibility !

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 02-005.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 02-005.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 02-005.dll

Done:
- RDS special characters conversion
- Check channel swap when loading a preset (just managed to reproduce it by loading built-in presets; my debug version crashes when this happens which helps :) )
- Scrolling issue if there's no scroll bar.

Note: RDS special characters conversion could contain errors, if you find any please let me know.

With this new beta, I recomend some new (default) settings..

"Distortion" section in "Advanced Clipper"

- Clipping from 0hz up to = 100Hz or 120Hz.
- Drop to no clipping = 300-400Hz. (i am testing 400 now still good)
- Clip bass below = -1dB or lower for louder presets. For mid loud preset -2dB is still good!
- Dynamically reduce bass to = 20% lower then "Clip bass below"
These clipping level are much higher than what you used earlier, does this mean that you hear less distortion now? Or is that because the frequencies changed??
I think as defaults I'll use 120 as start and 350 as end freq (the closer it gets to 450 Hz the more 'noise' appear around that frequency). And then 90% (-.92 dB) and 71% (-2.97 dB).

A first quick test: Both typing in manually and reading from a Latin-1 encoded file, everything looks OK in the GUI.
But (there's always a but, isn't it ;) ) ö displays as õ and Ö as Ô on my receivers.

I'll do some more test and go through the entire charset.

If "Latin-1 input" is unchecked, does that mean you expect UTF-8?

Do you support all characters that I wrote in my string? By Latin-1, you probably mean Win1252, right?
And as Ragnar, I wonder what the semantics of a disabled latin-1 checkbox is.

I put in all the characters that occur both in Latin-1 and RDS charsets. I've tested the 'ü' works, but since I don't have a transmitter (and even if I did I would have to walk pretty far to my car to check the RDS display), I haven't tested the other characters yet...

Without the checkbox, you get the old behavior - they are sent to the transmitter without conversion. So then you need Ragnar's string.

Ok, checking...:

o umlaut = 0xF6 ( http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8859-1 )
In RDS: 0x97 ( http://www.stereotool.com/images/rds_charset0.png )

My conversion says: 0xF6 -> ??? so it keeps the default = 0xF6 = o tilde.
In my conversion 0xF7 is mapped to 0x97 instead of 0xF6!

Ok I'll use some automated mechanism to check all characters now.

Edit: All should be ok now. Please wait for next build :)

I still do not understand why you do not use my string for conversion - the position of every character gives you the ordinal of it in the RDS encoding.

Because there are far more characters! Not just German.
