New BETA with better clipper. I got some feedback from Bojcha about high frequencies that were punching holes in the audio. He made a *great* sample yesterday evening where I could see exactly what was going on - and yesterday evening and today I've worked on an updated version where this issue is greatly reduced.

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 22-016.exe
DSP (Winamp): http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 22-016.exe
VST version: Still building...

Note:
- The CPU load is a bit higher than before
- Memory is being allocated and released all the time. I still need to fix this. Please be careful when running this in a 'production' environment, you might get hiccups.

I'll have to check later if I can reduce the CPU load again (I probably can).

Since you have a clipper in the FM section now, and the last few updates have been about that, which one are you talking about?

And some more ..
Is there any change in the display (i mean the style of showing the wave). It`s now "MPX Tool like" display. Think that old style display is much more precise than this or maybe the time for respond is reduced .What about this Hans ?

He's talking about the Loudness part. So not composite or stokke mask.

For the discussion going here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4076&start=30 :
Just tested the track that Storm has exemplified with. I can hear the holes being punched by highs on mids and bass. But that's only when de-emphasis is turned ON.
Does this issue concern users who don't use Stereo Tool for FM broadcast?

I find it is far more evident when pre emphasis is employed, and more so for 75us than 50us due presumably to the steeper pre-emphasis curve. My initial testing of ST was for online streaming, and I don't recall noticing the hole punching until I employed FM pre-emphasis. In my part of the world we use 50us for FM, but I've been testing for this issue with 75us only because it highlights it more, and our US friends are stuck with 75us for FM anyway! AJ

This is about Loudness indeed.

I found 2 other things that cause holes (in different situations), new fix is coming up where those are fixed as well. Holes were allowed to be punched in all audio below 2500 Hz, that's now moved to 250 Hz - and also slightly reduced.

Again less hole punching:
Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 22-017.exe
DSP (Winamp): http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 22-017.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 22-017.dll

Note: The highs are less loud than before now. Which makes sense since they don't push holes anymore. The result may sound duller though, depending on the feedback on this version I could add a slider with which you can choose between the old clipper, the new one, and something in between (smaller holes and louder highs).

I know, it's building now. I didn't have time to wait for it before I went home.
