Hi Hans,

I moved to a new development system 2 beta's ago! Which Windows do you use?
My test machine is XP 32 bit. I haven't tried it on my laptop which is 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I can do so if you'd like me to.

The beta before these two betas from the new system, i got around 2.5% less CPU load :)
This two last betas now i get " not valid WIN32 aplication" too.
I`m on XP and this problem was occured to other software (don`t remember what) but the solve was from the compiling . Developer reported that he was not included some options when compiling to be XP backward compatible and that is why it gaves "not win32 application" error.
So i guess you compiling to a new compiler on a Win7 may be or some 64 bit Win ?
Yes, it has to be something like that. But, as far as I know I should be using settings that are even still compatible with Windows 95... I guess I'm missing something.

Edit: Should be ok again in the next beta. Turns out that the latest Microsoft compiler by default generates binaries that don't run on XP (!). Going back further than XP (Win95, Win98) isn't possible at all anymore.

Hans ,
you mean that 7.60 release still can run on Win98 ? :)
That is to be cool for some people .

I never tested it... and looking at things I would now guess that the last version that could run on 98 would have been 7.50, because for 7.51 I also switched to a new development environment. I did it again now to have a stable environment which can run for multiple years (latest version of everything). Leif at Omnia will also have to mirgrate to this same platform now, so I wanted it to be future proof...

BETA 761-009

Windows 32 bit:
Windows stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 61-009.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 61-009.exe

CHANGES:
Fixed a lot of bugs, will type the details here later. Oil Temperature is now in % and didn't work properly before. PLEASE LOAD THE DEFAULT SETTINGS for the new compressor or it will sound horrible.

The compressor should be complete now. Maybe some fine-tuning can still be done (esp. wrt Oil Temperature rise and fall speeds and Shape). Of course I still need to add feedback mode, ratio and side chains.

Oil temperature slider will make the time to reach the target level on attack roughly constant regardless of how big the jump in level is. Basically it will make the speed 'stay constant', similar to 'inertia' in the current SB and MB compressors. (But inertia has never worked on Attack and now it does). Note: I still need to make some changes (currently the oil can heat up instantly and that's not good, especially for release, so please don't use it for release; also the cooling down of the oil will affect the attack and release shape and I haven't implemented that yet in my model).

OLD CHANGES:
Changed Attack Time, Release Time, Attack Speed Threshold, Release Speed Threshold to understandable values. Made 1.0 the 'standard' behavior for Shape.
- Added smoothing to oil temperature behavior for both attack and release.
Added Oil temperature behavior which was missing from my automatic (hydraulic) door model. Will explain below...
- Added another Peak mode slider in "New Singleband". The old one (from yesterday) works mainly on release, but in some cases the volume didn't go down fast enough on a loud sound. The new one works mainly on attack (higher value makes attack continue AFTER a peak.
- Changed Peak mode behavior in "New Singleband".
- New Singleband: Split Speed into Attack and Release Speed
- New Singleband: Made Attack and Release Speed Threshold relative to Speed - so you don't need to adjust it to change the shape.
- Added new Dequantizer filter to increase the bit depth of recordings.

TO DO:
Fix RDS time issue! viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5941&p=28209#p28209
Fix MB frequency band shift (10%, since 7.51 or 7.60)

Btw that last beta should work on XP again (but I have not yet tested it)

Confirm the last beta 009 is working on XP .
You made it Hans.

P.S: The old CPU load is back ...

Confirmed here. Thank you.

Could you also add a "Maximum Gain reduction control" to the new compressor?
With this you can make cool things in controlling the dynamic range, so that the compressor does work only on the quieter passages to raise them a bit while letting the "well controlled" material untouched.
That would be great as well as seeing this compressor also before MB...
Thanks,
Regards,
Robert

Good idea, and I also still have to add things like gating and feedback mode, lookahead, limiting and ratio.
