UPD2:

- Phase Delay completely different, not sure if it's the way to go, gives some more low base punch dough.
- Minor Adjustment in ND
- Minor Adjustment in MB2 release time for upper bands
- Minor Adjustment in ACR

Please try, and leave comments.

Jeroen.

Running right now, sounds a lot better, but the output is hot, had to back it off a bit.

Hmmm, not sure it's close to Orban.

Very squashed, loud mid range, lots of high end but missing the punch bass at 85Hz and warm tones around 120Hz that you normally hear on anything Orban.

I have Orban gear so I took a snapshot via spectrum analyzer... very different... noise around 60Hz up past 100Hz which should taper off after 200Hz but still very loud after 400Hz.

My 2c.

I tested this preset and... so far away from Orban :(

Ok thanks all for testing the preset.

Well compared to all optimods here in Holland is sounds quite similar, and i agree the deep punch is still missing (depending on the content played)
Seems Orban does something, but i have to say ST is getting there.
And as always, everybody has his own taste, i hope for some people SUBLIME is a good starting point.

Will keep on tweaking, and i have to say ST is getting better all the time...Good luck to you all.

The last days I was in my car listening to several radio stations where they have Optimods in the chain, and I must say.
It's sounds like junk, really no open sound, slissing syblings but yes, hard, very hard, yuk not a match to ST.
I made a few STS files here and they sounds better on FM than the crap I heard.

These were the radio stations:
JoeFM = good
Q-Music = blah
Radio FG Dance radio, no punchy sound at all, and no high tones. = very bad
Studio Brussel = Blah, never heard it so bad as saturday. Maybe there was a guest DJ but it was worse.
Radio 1 = very good
Radio 2 = good
MNM = not bad, but also not that great.
If I listening to my FM setups, more bass punch, open sound, only thing is RDS that has gaps. But for me, not that necessary.

You can try to make a Optimod sound, but you will fail everytime, because it's not the same processor.
I have Optimod HD PC card, with that one it's very easy to make that sound, but I lost my interest, the more I tweak with Hans FM processor.

It's not quite all the way there, to my ears at least, but it does definitely come close. And I like it. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

I think many countries have gotten past the loudness approach, especially around Asia Pacific where I mostly travel, where Orban gear (that I hear anyway) is toned down from the old "flame thrower" days.

When you tone down the loudness (AGC recover time is a good start) it allows the gear to present dynamic range, then shelving allows the punchy bass to shine.

Loudness = loss of listeners.

I like my Orban gear set firm but still punchy. Songs fade a little on our stations, but songs sound like they are supposed to without being squashed.

If you bring back some of the dynamic range and push a little more on 60 - 120Hz I think it would sound much better... IMHO.

My 2c.
