@Hans Beta 6 vs Beta 9 which are the sound diff??? cause i think they do have changes on sound clarity.

There is Multiband steepness. (Set it to the maximum level for a comparison to limit its effect).

Except for that, there SHOULD not be any differences - which doesn't mean that there cannot be differences if I did something wrong.

Are you using FM output? With a lower (below 128 kHz) input sampling rate? Then the upsampling to 192 kHz has also been changed - again, that should not have any impact on the sound.

I'll do some measurements later to see if I didn't do something wrong.

Shouldn't matter anymore. What do you hear? Is 009 worse than 006?

I am not quite sure, i have to check more, because the diff is very small.... on sound clarity i think.

I think I am now.

I've created a frequency sweep (tone running from 0 Hz upto 22 kHz), and fed it through Stereo Tool 6.00 and 6.01.

In 6.00, for frequencies above around 7 kHz a spike starts to appear at 22 kHz, and I see a lot of noise around the actual frequency. This grows as the frequency gets higher.

In 6.01, this starts at 17 kHz - so the effect is FAR less. And for FM output (filtered at 16 kHz) it's not even there at all.

So 6.01 should be much better (the effect might be very hard to notice, but it is very easy to measure).

Confirmed. Will fix it asap.

There was also an issue with Hard Limit that could cause (mild, but potentially noticeable) clicks when using higher output frequencies. Solved now, will be available in next BETA.

I think it's possible to reduce the FM Composite Limiter latency to 0. And maybe the FM transmitter calibration as well (but only for very small phase differences at bass frequencies). But that will take some effort.

This time I don't want to wait for months before releasing a new version. So as soon as all the changes are working properly I want to release what I have now (will post latest BETA in a moment) as version 6.01. I still need to work on the FM latency, but that might take more effort so it's probably smarter to release something first (especially with all the low latency improvements of lately).

Here are some things that I still need to look at/fix before releasing:
- Multiband:
* Is Steepness behavior ok?
* Make sure it cannot be set at 0%
* Save to disk OR remove from interface...
* Maybe: Disable clipping in lowest 3 bands in Latency512 mode to avoid pretty horrible distortion.
* (Maybe) display the effect of Steepness in output bars

- Phase rotation:
* Save settings to disk

- Save LATENCY as part of PRESET in .STS file [michi95's request]

- QUESTION: The changed Punch behavior, is that good or bad?

- And I need to check how much the performance is impacted by the latency improvements.

BETA601-010:
- Swapped channels again
- Fixed minor Hard Limit artifacts in upsampled audio
- Some preparations for extra FM latency removal. But that has no effects yet.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 01-010.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-010.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-010.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 01-010.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 01-010.exe
Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-010 [not available]
Linux GUI version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... ETA601-010 [not available]

Edit: I still see some noise in the MPX output display. They are very soft (upto around -80 dB) and probably not at all noticeable, but I'll try to get rid of them tomorrow (I think I can easily reduce them a lot).

Edit #2: Oops. Channels are still swapped, they are just displayed as if they are not :o

Edit #3:
@ #1: I see it in my output display, but not if I analyse the audio that comes out... :?:
@ #2: Should be fixed now, building new BETA. Will post it tomorrow (going to bed now)
