Avoid using a VST->DX adaptor...
I have to admit that I actually load VB FFX-4 DSP version with BA Live.
Then I load a from VST to DX (with Cakewalk VST Adapter) wrapped instance of the Acon chainer inside VB FFX-4 (I still like the small and handy Cubase VST type GUI of this free 4-slot DX chainer).
The Acon has its own DX version, but I am sure I had a good reason to use the wrapped (VSTtoDX) version instead.
And the point is:
It works really with hundreds of VST plugins I have testet (during a couple of months).
Only Stereo Tool crashes when I try to load it.

I will try J.River 15.
Thank you for this hint.
Especially for me this is very interesting, because I always hear a difference between WAV or to WAV decoded MP3 in an audio editor played or played with any player (foobar, winamp, etc.).
That's the reason I very often use the old Sonique 1.96 player.
For me still the player with the best audio quality.
So I will see (or better hear) how good (better ?) J.River is, no doubt.

EDIT
I have just discovered that I had J.River 14 installer in my archive.
Sorry, but this is really that kind of apps I hate:
Searching harddisks, connecting to the internet, blablabla automatically.
Things I hate.
Finally I take it under my control.
And I even figured out how to enable Stereo Tool DSP.
But this was another story.
This J.River scanned my whole VST directories without asking.
Ok, maybe it is my special problem that I have billions of billions of (most free) VST plugins on my machine.
I really prefer to do things manually.
Apps treating the user like a kid are a pain in the ass.
Sorry,.... for this little off topic.

Later I will respond if its audio quality was the whole drama worth.

While looking for the VST issues I just found out how to tell the VST host how much latency Stereo Tool causes. So the next BETA will enable the host to compensate for that.

I also found a nice small program 'VST-Scanner' which can be used to test VST plugins. Here the parameter loading/saving works fine though... So that doesn't really help me!

Wow, that would be a welcome implementation! Surely would be very well received by the VST plugin users community.

Couldn't agree more. Thats the reason I fixated my opinion on JRiver, despite the fact I installed it about a couple of years back, used for say a week and then uninstalled. Reason being the same as you mentioned: it's too naive!
It's just that the new version features ASIO, KS and WASAPI output and can host DSP/VST/DX plugins which eventually renewed my interest for transcoding audio files. Honestly there are some 'foobar/xmplay/winamp maniacs' claiming the player reproduces sound faithfully at minimal CPU utilization. Play a file in JRiver 15 using ASIO and then compare head on with Winamp, foobar or any player with ASIO support.
Jriver - mere 2-3% utilization and a sound reproduction similiar to Adobe Audition, that is clean. (even when I am actually running it in my Virtual Machine Windows 7 x86, vmware)
Ignore the layout and the media center stuff. For you michi, 4 features should be of special interest - Disk Writer, ASIO output, Output Format and Plugin Host. Try it out.

Note: No changes in sound or behavior.

Cleaned up unused code:
# Reduced executable size by around 40%, installer by 25%.
# Reduced CPU load by 3-4%.
# Reduced memory usage by over 4 MB (from over 24 MB to under 20 MB).
# Removed part of Core Duo support from the SSE2 version (no effect on performance, only increased file size).
# Removed SSE2 support from the SSE version (which was accidentally included in it).
# Fixed Windows Vista "This program might not have installed correctly" warning.
# "VISIT SITE" button was being redrawn continuously - fixed.
# SSE (Pentium 3) version: Replaced some 'generic' code by SSE code (70% performance boost).
Ok, here is a question regarding SAMBC.

What possible changes/enhancement may be possible with SAMBC as it pertains with the voice? (SAMBC allows you to lower the music volume and and allow you to speak having the music in the background.)

Can effects, etc for voice be possible with ST?

I *think* I might have a solution for the VST crashing issue (at least it seems to run in all the VST hosts I have tested, including the one that gave problems before). And I'm not calling SetParent anymore (the command that I needed for mAirList, but gave problems in some other hosts).

I am a bit afraid that there might be some stability issues (crashes when opening or closing the window during playback); if this version works I'll try to fix those. (But before I start spending time on that, I first want to know if it works in the first place).

That would require Stereo Tool to have 2 inputs (one for music, and one for voice). This would give a lot of other interesting options, for example processing the voice separate from the music with less latency. Maybe I'll do something like that in the future, but not now...

Redesigned VST GUI behavior (other modalities are affected as well, but that should not be noticeable).

No changes in processing, only download this if you are having issues with STARTING Stereo Tool in a VST host (hangups).

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 510-67.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-67.exe

VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 510-67.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-67.exe

Working again here. Host is Mixmeister, through Acon effect chainer. Thanks.
