hmm..
Huge difference!
After some short test .. i see loudness has better responce to sudden peeks and better control over maximum bass level.
Quote:
Remaining issues:
- Bass is limited at 100%, not at 90% as Bojcha wrote earlier (and my own tests indicate that for very deep bass sounds, it should be even lower.)
Well i saw this for FM mode in orban and breakaway, for standard non-fm processing is not case.
And, If i set "Allow louder lows" to -500000 (edited sts) there is some strange deep low bass. I guess that should removed too.?
I hope that re-enabling "punch" will not make it worse.
Around +7000 is 100% bass ..(?).. +4000/5000 is good :)

q: Is it good to put punch and deep bass boost before loudness ?

Bojcha,

About Clean/Punch: I'm going to turn this on ONLY for the bass processing. So it will improve the bass punch without causing distortion in the high frequencies.

Next step will be to make the very deep bass softer, hopefully with little effect on the sound. I want to make this configurable, but first I'm going to test the effects.

Added some extra limitation on lower bass sounds.

Behavior is now:
- Bass limited to 70% below 50 Hz, going up to 100% at 250 Hz. (New!)
- Separation between lows (below 1000-2000Hz) and highs (above those freqs) to reduce effect of bass on highs (distortion) or highs on bass (load 'S' sounds).

Next I will re-enable Punch and make all the mentioned frequencies (250 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz) and the deep bass maximum level (70%) configurable.

Hint: Make sure that 'allow louder lows' does not reduce the bass: Set it as high as possible.

Good bass clipping! But level is now low to much. Many house/dance/disco tracks are thin.
Or...
Something which will push that bass to 95/100% if no other sounds are present.

Anyway it'll be configurable.

Adjustable bass level clipping:
Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 510-36.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-36.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 510-36.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 510-36.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 510-36.exe
Linux command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... BETA510-36
Linux GUI version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... BETA510-36

This version has 5 new sliders:

Clip at: The level at which to clip the lowest bass sounds. Now set at 0.7 (70%). --> Small bug: Display is incorrect. But it's set to 70% at startup.

from 0 Hz upto:
Clipping stays at the clip level upto this frequency.

Then rise to 100% at:
At this frequency the bass is clipped at 100%.

Note: If this frequency is set higher, MORE data needs to be clipped, so the overall bass level gets lower if all frequencies are present. So basically setting this to a lower value should also help increasing the deep bass level. (*)

Highs vs. lows protection runs from:
to:
Highs are protected against lows below the start freq (and gradually less in between).
Lows are protected against highs above the end freq (and gradually less in between).

(*) What I mean here is: If I have take ONLY the sounds below - say - 200 Hz, and clip those at 70%, I will probably end up with louder deep lows than when I take all the sound below - say - 500 Hz. Because the freqs between 200 and 500 will push the deep bass down. (This might offer some opportunities to improvet things further, I'll have to think about this a bit more).
