Hey guys,

First want to say that this new version of Stereo Tool is amazing. (once I get to know where every thing is and how to use it properly) lol

I had an older version a long time ago (probably 3-4 yrs ago), but unfortunately it was not what I thought I needed at the time, so crossed over to iTunes (yah I know). Now I am back with Winamp w/stereo tool, but like I said am very unsure of what I am doing with this one. The tutorial is great, but it directs to the older version?? I did try a few things, and now not sure what exactly I did.

The question I am leading up to is; is there a way to stop...hmm not sure how to describe it. When I change songs, it repeats for a split second or two before switching to another song. I remember this problem last time I used stereo tool, but not sure how to stop it.

Any advise would be much appreciated, and keep up the great work GREAT SOFTWARE!!!!

Tammy

Hello irish73,

I know, I still need to rewrite the documentation for the latest versions... Although the behavior should be more or less identical.

About this 'part of previous song getting played when a new track starts' problem:
Are you sure you're using the latest version, 5.02? This issue was greatly reduced in version 5.00; in 4.xx versions the problem was much worse (upto 1.5 seconds in 4.22; at most 0.093 seconds in 5.0x!). The Winamp site still lists version 4.22!

If it's still too much, try this: Click on "Configure audio and display". In the window that opens, enable "Clear buffer if no data arrives for...". (But: This probably won't work if you manually change tracks, only when one track ends and the next starts. And it should be turned on by default if you run Stereo Tool from Winamp.)

Hi,
Yes it's much less then in v4.22
i Just checked ... stil it repeats for a split od ms (not second). Only way to curently fix this in winamp dsp (not 100%) is to swths to 1024 latency mode or 512.

Eay to fix it 100% is to use Standalone version ;)

Thank you so much for quick response :)
You said to change from 1024 to 512, is that is the stereo tool, or thru winamp?

That's in Stereo Tool (right side of the window) - but beware: Lowering this setting reduces the audio quality! (Otherwise I would just have set it as low as possible).

I feel terrible. I did what you advised, but still many issue with my pc itself. So i have had to uninstall stereo tool. It was taking up all my cpu  I tried everything. If you have suggestions I would love them, but until I purchase my new pc, I have to go w/out.

I will be definitely looking at getting the tool again once I have my new pc, just because the sound is amazing :D

take care, I will be returning.

Tammy ;)

How slow is it then? Even an 8-year-old P4 should have a lot of CPU power remaining.

Have you tried lowering the Quality slider? With that you can reduce the CPU load by upto 40%!
Also, if you're using Loudness, turn it off - it takes a lot of CPU power and doesn't improve the sound quality.
