Hi Hans

Just saw this come up on a Prod machine running v9.00
Attachment:
ST v9.00 Prod NAN Error.JPG
ST v9.00 Prod NAN Error.JPG [ 22.87 KiB | Viewed 6066 times ]
I clicked and ignored it, but after 10-15mins it came back with same error and locked up ST GUI totally?
Unfortunately I was not around when it came back the second time and it took the station off air until I restarted the box.

One quick question regarding Multipath control:

How much is the reasonable amount in degrees?
90° seems a little bit too much for my ears.

Thank you!
Too much? Setting it to 180 does nothing - the default is 60 degrees and that appears to be a good value (too high = more phase cancellation on mono reception).

Ow. That's not normal (a NAN usually has no effect, at the worst a short glitch). BUT, I think I don't protect against NAN's anymore in my scope drawing code which might explain the hangup. I'll look into that immediately now.

This is in the input stage. I have never before seen NANs in the input stage...

Questions:
- Which version is this, stand alone, plugin?
- Do you have the 2nd sound card ("SCA input") enabled?
- Are you using tilt correction on the input?
- Are you using resampling on the input?

Edit: NAN protection is still there (implemented differently from before, but it's there). I'm going to insert NAN's myself and see what happens.

Sorry i meant 60° At this value there is not enough stereo separation, I think.
That's why I asked if i could turn it up to 90° and still get good results.
Of course I don't mean to crank it up to 180° :)

Apologies for not supplying more info earlier. I wanted to log it and add to it when I got home....

- This is v9.00 64 Bit Standalone
- Using ASIO drivers for Audinate DANTE DVS for Input, Normal Output, LQLL Output. Using soundcard output for MPX. Have never encountered the error before.
- No Tilt Correction enabled.
- No Resampling on the input.

Regards

I found and fixed something that might have caused the lockup.

That doesn't explain the NAN itself yet though. I looked up Dante and - according to the first link I found - their format is 32 bit int. Which can't contain NAN's (if their format was floats it could!). What sample rate are you running at? Do you have "Ignore high frequencies" enabled?

Running 48k (DANTE default). Ignore High Frequencies is enabled.

Keep it under 90. Under, not at.

Hi, Hans! Will you add in 9's version?

- RDS RT end with hex code 0D (Carriage Return) instead of padding with spaces, then stop sending - faster and no unnecessary scrolling.

There's still something off with the Dutch Moose preset. The bass we talked about earlier is steady now but overall there are loud volume spikes. I'm talking about perhaps coming from a very quiet section to a very loud one, it's too slow to bring the volume back down or the other way around.

One good example is the very beginning of the song Amorphis - Message in the Amber. The song starts heavy and loud and already one second into the song the preset has a very noticeable and abrupt volume change. It goes from loud to soft, too slowly I think, so it's a very annoying effect.

Attached is a sample audio from a .flac source processed with WatchCat using the latest Dutch Moose preset. Also a picture from Audacity where you can see the spike at the beginning.
