This line on that forum says it all

'Any progress on implementing the buffer length slider? I like this plugin a lot for listening to (overly) dynamic live recordings, but the default length is quite long... '

Final BETA is available.
- Performance is restored (and even slightly better)
- File is a bit smaller (but the installer still won't fit on a single sided floppy...)
- Memory usage slighly reduced
- "This sound is processed by Stereo Tool" message frequency increased to once per 4 hours if BOTH Loudness AND FM processing (pre-emphasize output, encode stereo, encode rds) is used.

No bug reports? Then I'll release it tomorrow.

Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... r_BETA.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... r_BETA.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... l_BETA.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... _NoSSE.dll
Command line version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... d_BETA.exe

Hi Hans, this version doesn't work with Station Playlist and my configuration. There is no signal on the input of Stereo Tool (the Winamp dsp). Anyone using Station Playlist and can test also?

Hi Marino,

I've just downloaded Station Playlist and here it's working fine... What happens on your end exactly? And which OS do you use etc? (If you have Winamp, does it work from Winamp? It louds the same INI file and Stereo Tool itself cannot see if it's running in Winamp or Station Playlist).

Did you try any of the earlier BETA's or version 4.22? And did they work? (Don't try them if you didn't already, but since you're reporting this now it seems to be something new in the last few versions...)

Note: If you cannot see the difference between processing of silence or no processing at all, turn RDS on (FM processing ON, Encode RDS ON) - that way you'll see some changing texts (assuming that you didn't put a single static text in the RDS "PS Text" field).

Crashing issue
I found the following problem: If you're playing files using in_wm.dll (WMA files), and press STOP or move to another part of the recording, Winamp crashes.

This seems to be a bug in in_wm.dll (I've attached a debugger and it reports that in_wm.dll does something illegal), but it's triggered by the fix that I created to avoid hangups during playback of lossless files. (I've found many reports of crashes in in_wm.dll, but with Stereo Tool it crashes about half of the time when I press stop. Which is quite bad.)

I have found an 'intermediate' solution that greatly reduces the chance of having crashes while still solving the hangup issue, but I'll try to find a real solution.

So there may need to be another beta before I release version 5.00 :-(

Yes, specially with wma stream knows to crash, when switching from wma stream to mp3 stream. That's old bug in winamp (in_wma).

small visual bug:
- Right channel-meter in Final limiter and Left chanel-meter in Loudness are 'thinner'

Ok, thanks! I'm not using a 'standard configuration', so it could be my configuration (and I'm a little bit cautious about reporting bugs):
* Windows Server 2003 SP2
* Station Playlist 4.31
* It's a virtual machine in a VMware Server 2 environment ....
* AMD Athlon 64 processor

Stereo Tool doesn't load when starting Station Playlist. When I click configure on the Stereo Tool dsp in the 'Digital Signal Processors' screen (at the mixer tap, in the output option), it loads but there is no input (and output) signal. Until the version released at 10 April it works fine (and before). I will do some more tests on another virtual server to see what happens.

*Edit*
The release on the 28th of April does work too. It seems to be the latest that doesn't work here.

I've uploaded a new BETA with a fix for the in_wm.dll (WMA) crashing problem. It's not a complete solution but the chance of getting cashes is greatly reduced, and probably similar to the chance of getting crashes when not using Stereo Tool.

Marino: I don't expect that this version solves anything, but could you check? If you happen to have a debugger installed on your system, could you attach it and see if it reports an exception?

Tested on another system with VMware Server with a Windows Server 2008 VM and a Intel Core 2 Quad processor. Same behavior: Stereo Tool won't load but I can configure it.

Good news :-) The latest version works again, thanks!
