Duvel? Are you from Belgium?

Anyway, I'm now building another update with a few fixes. What remains after that is just the tweaking of some presets.

We spreken dezelfde taal ;-)

I've added a loud preset that almost sounds like the French stations in the 80's, damn can't seem to add it. (attachment not alowed)

Gewoon als tekst pasten werkt prima :-) - Ik moet nog een keer de forum-settings gaan bekijken om te zien waarom attachen op sommige plekken wel werkt en op andere niet.

Note: Just uploaded a new update (see 5.00 BETA thread for info).

Zipped sts file

Some notes:
- This is only a 1 hour job that I did so I can improve it, might have time next week
- Depending on mood, type of music etc this can really sound bad (hehe) but it emulates the French sound
- The output refers to -3dB leaving some headroom for my audiocard

Also check the soundcard settings since mine refers to VAC !!

I make some changes for "clubber" preset. So here it is Clubber_v2
Hans, if you have time please listen this preset and tell me if it could be better.
I have the impression that there's a bit of bass distortion. I think you should, in Loudness, either reduce the 'Allow louder lows' slider OR reduce 'Max punch'. The latter would have much less effect on the sound, so I would choose that.

Except for that: This sound is again different from all the other presets in Stereo Tool, so I'm adding it.

Hi Hans..
Here is Clubber v3 viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1798&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=30

in v2 i notice that there is some bass distortion .. that should be fixed in v3, but anyway set it with "Allow louder lows" to 0. (currently is at 2000)

Ok.

Question: In the AGC, you're setting 'remove remaining peaks above..." to 100% - this means that you don't allow louder peaks to come out of it. However, this also means that you're getting a more 'aggressive' volume leveling algorithm which may cause pumping. Looking at the output this only seems to affect the bass in your preset... Is this intentional, or should the maximum level be increased?

What would you recommend as a decent microphone for podcasts? I have a relatively decent soundcard (Audigy Platinum) but a relatively rubbish old Creative Labs microphone. When I connect this to the Mic 2 socket and record talking I get a slight buzz.
I don't have much experience with microphones, but I'm using this one:
http://www.quasarelectronics.com/skytro ... ophone.htm
and I'm getting pretty good results. If I place it outside my window I can clearly understand what people 30 meters away are saying to each other, with little noise. And as a bonus, it's stereo :-) . Frequency range is a bit limited (upto 100 Hz - 12 kHz), but for voice that suffices (and of course, it's not a hard limit as in digital equipment, so higher and lower frequencies are still present, only softer.).

I bought it in 2004 for 30 euro.

I should add to this that you CANNOT connect this microphone directly to a PC, you need a pre amplifier. And that GREATLY affects the sound quality and noise level you'll get. After testing everything I could find in my house, I'm now using a Philips cassette deck from 1985 as pre amplifier.
