If I purchase the beta version will the "this sound is processed by stereo tool" audio every 12 hours go away or do I need to wait for the non beta?

Thanks
Rick
Hello Rick,

It will go away. The beta isn't limited in any way - it's just not completely finished yet.

I have made a change to fix a bug that was reported elsewhere in these forums for the VST version of Stereo Tool. It is now possible to fire up multiple Stereo Tool instances in VST applications (caused strange behavior or even crashes before).

When I was changing this I also found a bug in the FM processing that might also cause crashes or strange behavior, in all versions (also Winamp/Stand alone). Solved.

The Winamp and stand alone versions should behave identically as in the previous version, however:
- Memory has been reorganized. This may have a big impact on the performance. On my system (Intel) the performance has increased very slightly (0.5%). But I'm particularly interested in what this change does on AMD systems. (An in-between version where the memory was organized slightly less ideally immediately caused a 13% performance drop on my system; previously I left it to Windows to organize the memory, in this new version I've taken more control over it. That might have worked differently - potentially suboptimal - on AMD systems than on Intel systems due to drivers, different HAL (Windows Hardware Abstraction Layer) etc.).
- Bugs (like the one for FM processing that I mentioned before) that were hidden before might be visible now. That's why I'm posting this version as BETA2 (different file name, original BETA can still be downloaded) for now.

Updated version:
Winamp DSP plugin: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... _BETA2.exe
Stand alone version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... _BETA2.exe
VST version: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... _BETA2.dll
VST version (No SSE2): http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... NoSSE2.dll
Command line version: Not yet available

Hi Vamprecords,

Stand alone or Winamp version? (If winamp, please send me your settings, because I have compared the Winamp BETA2 output with the BETA output and it's exactly identical - unless you're using something that I'm not testing...

Hi Hans ..
i tested beta2 at home last night and all was good.
Few minutes ago i put it on transmitter .. and Vamrecords is right.. there is much distortion caused by i think too much level in Final Limiter (right channel [?])...
When i get home i'll try again to see what's wrong.

Ah, now I think I've seen something like that as well.

In the VST version, I noticed that one channel was much louder than the other. After hitting 'reset' and selecting another preset that was gone. So I thought there was something wrong with a very old preset that was loaded. But now I've read this, I guess something else is wrong. At least this should be relatively easy to find.

Final Limiter is indeed broken in VST (and I suppose also stand alone) versions. Will check it later.

Update: It seems to be "Avoid Distortion". If I turn that off everything seems fine.

Edit: And it appears in the Winamp version as well if you turn Avoid Distortion on.

Edit: This is odd - this filter can never have worked properly... Fix is building now.

New BETA2 uploaded (for links, scroll up on this page).

Changes:
- Avoid Distortion problem fixed
- 'Configure Audio and Display' now flashes when audio is removed when a new track starts; if it is configured too tightly so audio is removed constantly (causing silence or stuttering), the flashing indicates that something's wrong.
