I've just noticed that at low latency values, the left channel sounds worse that the right! Am looking into it...

Edit: Fix uploaded (the difference is very small though)

ok clearer now .. then, nice place for slope overlap and slider can be removed. But maybe not same place for all latency values ?
Yes, but right now I'm hoping to be able to get rid of the slope overlap altogether. I've used a new method in parts of the Stereo Boost and the Loudness filter, and I'm getting very good results. I'm going to try to use that same method in the rest of the processing, if that works I'll be able to reduce the CPU load to levels clearly below that of v4.22. It might take some time though - I've changed a number of filters (noise gate, pre limiter, multiband, stereo boost) to make use of the current slope/overlap method, and I'll have to change them again. And I'm not sure what the change will do to the quality. I might need to support both methods.

Edit: Where did you get that really cool avatar? It could almost have been a member of this family:

(See the 2nd one - but yours is cooler)
I drew it myself, I was bored during a lab session at my university. there's been many versions of it, one with a christmas hat on, and one with a knife and a fork, and one without a hand for new year's eve... found this one the coolest :p yours are funny too!

I'll check out that last version tomorrow, it's getting a bit late! :)

That would be realy nice, especially if the CPU load may be less. I hope the same quality.

It's starting to look (sound) good. I now have the pre limiter, multiband and noise gate converted to the lower CPU usage setting, and the Final Limiter and most of the Loudness filter. Pre-emphasis and de-emphasis are still working, and all MPX stuff is also still working.

Not yet working Stereo Boost, Highpass filter (causes loud clicks, lowpass works), part of the Hard Limit filter (it won't limit properly!), part of the loud 's' sound protection of the Loudness filter. And all of the limiters (loud peak removal in the pre limiter, Avoid distortion and Reduced CPU usage in the final limiter, Hard Limit)

I'll post the new version in an hour in case anyone wants to test it... I have the impression that at lower latency settings, the sound is actually better(!)

To enable the low CPU load version: Set "Block overlap" to 0 (not just close to 0, but really AT 0).

Uploaded. The normal sound has changed very little (but might be slightly better).

To test the new low CPU load mode:
- Set Block Overlap to 0 (if it's set to 0, the program chooses a different processing scheme).
- EDIT: Leave the other 3 sliders at their default values or you'll get really weird effects

In this mode, make sure that the following filters are turned OFF or you'll get horrible artifacts:
- Highpass filter (lowpass can be turned on)
- Stereo Boost

Some limiter filters (pre-limiter 'remove remaining loud peaks', Final Limiter right 2 check boxes, Hard Limit) don't function properly. That's also the case for some steps in the Loudness filter - so loud S sounds may be a bit problematic.

Much better LowLatency mode (512-1024) Still good sound at 4096!
i did't test sound yet .. but i put 40Hz thru ST. set blockoverlap to 0, loudness off, slopeoverlap 99 .. i get clear sinusoide.
With loudness ON, sinusoide is again unstable, but less unstable if i now set Slope Overlap to exact 3%.
Tomorow other tests .. cpu

Hi Bojcha,

I think you need to leave the other 3 sliders at their default values (slope overlap 0, both slope sizes 100%) - otherwise the volume doesn't stay constant.

I know (and had expected) the bass is better - also in cases where there was some bass distortion caused by loud higher frequencies. The big question is: What happens to the rest of the sound... (Because some parts of the filter don't work right now, it's not really an honest comparison - at the moment the Loudness sound is worse, but when I turn off the things that don't work properly in the higher CPU load version as well, it seems to be very close. Still, I need to know how it sounds WITH all those filters enabled - and for that I need to work a bit more on it.

heh .. yes...
Then this is big progress! not only cpu but sound is better!
must put to transmitter PC, to see cpu usage :)

edit:
yes.. something is missing in loudness i think. but still sounds clean good.. maybe highs are again higher and maybe sometimes distorted .. but that's missing filters?

CPU usage is not much changed actualy! From ~54% to ~50% ! but steroboost is disabled and highpass .. etc :|

I hope so...

That's VERY strange. Because there is NO overlap in this version - it should correspond to an overlap of 0% in previous versions...
