I think I've found it. The Highpass filter (the lowest value of the bandpass filter) is really killing the sound quality. Without it, the bass processing is nearly identical - with it, the bass that comes out looks very different.

Could you compare the two with the highpass filter turned off?

I found a bug that's probably causing lots of problems with the processing (especially of low frequencies). I'm currently searching what's causing it - but there's definitely something wrong.

Edit: Bug is located in the Loudness filter.

Hi Hans...
I just found that only in Normal mode 192khz input (vac)... sounds bad. (listening mpx output)
In LowLatency mode that it's not case... works good

I'll upload a version with (slightly) improved bass sound in about an hour.

(Note: In case you wonder "what's with that one hour all the time" - that's how long it takes to compile the software)

I fell asleep behind my tv

New version is online now.

(Compiling uses 2 of the 4 cores btw)

New update coming up - again in about an hour.

Changes:
- 192 kHz input should work fine in all modes now (In fact, it turned out that part of the "hard limit" filter was turned off in low latency mode... So the output should be better too - the CPU load as well though...)
- Fixed a bug in the processing that might have introduced artifacts.
- Low Latency mode: Improved the Multiband filter, it handles very low frequencies MUCH better now.
- Low Latency mode: Reduced the latency from 34 to 17 ms (!!!)

When testing, do not use the following filters:
- Highpass (in bandpass window): Set it to 0 Hz, otherwise the bass starts to rumble badly (even in normal latency mode!).
I have a highpass filter that introduces very little latency (used it in a previous beta), I'll just have to build it into this new version.

- Loudness filter: Bass boost (only in Low Latency mode)
Causes rumble and probably doesn't even increase the bass level. I'll see what I can do about it (solving it will probably increase the CPU load). Caused by the VERY low latency, in Normal Latency mode it works fine.

- Loudness filter: Deep bass protection (only in Low Latency mode)
Has almost no effect, and if you listen to the difference sound (enable "DIFF") it also introduces rumbling. I'll see what I can do about it (solving it will probably increase the CPU load). Caused by the VERY low latency, in Normal Latency mode it works fine.

Note: The fact that the rumbling is disappearing probably means that I can reduce the CPU load further. But since it currently changes with every change I make, I'll try doing that when I'm finished with improving the sound quality.
If the CPU load is too high, turning off the two Loudness filters that I mentioned should lower it a bit again.

Uploaded! Please read the previous post for some remarks on which filters work in which mode.

Loudness not working without Final Limiter low/normal mode or ILDP must be OFF

I can't manage to reproduce that... What happens exactly?
