Hi guys,

I use the stand-alone version of ST and I use the ASIO sound card setup using the ASIO4ALL driver at the moment.

I went on vacation for a week and lef the computer, with ST open and when I returned and tried to play music, there was a 5 second elay (approx.) whereas before I left for vacation, the latency was almost non-existent.

This has happened to me with older versions and a different computer as well. What can I do to avoid this from happening? This is the one problem I cannot figure out a solution for.

At some point, I will be purchasing a professional ESI Juli@ XTe but I want to make absolutely certain this problem can be resolved before investing the money.

Any help would be so very appreciated.
Thanks everyone! :)

I never used Asio4All. Also i never saw that latency changes over time when asio is enabled. You can try to not use asio and use sync instead.

Bojcha,

When using the stand-alone version, I am using it for my own local audio as well so latency/delay is important when watching a YouTube video every once and a while.

Which sound card do you use? From your response it seems to be clear taht you don't have these increased delay problems over time. That's good to know.

What is interesting is that regardless of which I use ASIO4ALL or even regular, non-ASIO drivers (let's say VAC and my computer's PCI Realtek Audio Driver), the problem still occurs.

It's as if over time delay/latency builds up more and more. I do believe this is a Windows problem because this happened to me with my current Windows 7 and my old Windows XP computer and it also happened when using other programs as well.

I was trying to see if there was a workaround that Stereo Tool had to fix this common problem (well, that seems to be common for me at least) before spending another $200.

Any thoughts guys?

Thanks.

Problem is that VAC has a different clock than the sound card. So, you can do 1 of 3 things:
1. Manually adjust the VAC clock to reduce the problem.
2. Use Sync as Bojcha said. But Sync also requires some latency to function properly.
3. Restart regularly.

Ok understood.

So if I did purchase an ESI Juli@ and used ASIO, this would not be a problem anymore, correct?

It should. I never had problems using Juli@ and Marian Trace. Both input and output. It Just works.

Yes, the Juli@ has its own VAC-like solution built in, of course the timing of that is perfect.

Bojcha & Hans,

Thanks for answering my very, very basic question that I should have known the answer to by now after all this time!

Appreciate the help. :)
