Looking to use ST's supreme anti-aliasing clipper as a backend pre-emphasis clipper (L&R output only, no comp clipping needed) for another processor. I would only need bandwidth filtering (HPF & LPF), pre-emphasis (75us), phase scrambling and the final clipper as the preceding processor takes care of all dynamics processing to include bass clipping and final peak limiting.

Another words, I'm looking for something very similar to the "Protection Clip" preset in BBP. I know to start by disabling the dynamics stages within ST, but this leaves me with a lot of settings in the advanced clipper stage that I'm unsure of what needs to be done with (pre-limiter, bass, distortion, etc.).

Could someone advise on how to best set ST up for functioning as an FM backend only?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Hi..
"Protection clip" in BBP also uses a bit of AGC. Since limiter is good but of course not capable to work if you put+18dB in it.
So you also need AGC too in atleas 6-10dB range. Clipper default settings are already good start.
You can also load separate settings for filters Like Phase Rotator settings. Load preset save it and load just part of preset
For start try Unveil's AGC, clipper and rotator. Just tune levels ofc.

Don't use the AGC if the level is already pretty constant.

For the clipper, there are differences in the settings between presets. I think following what Bojcha said (using his Unveil preset) i sa good idea. The main thing to adjust would be the bass clipping level and potentially bass shape.
