@dj_szpajda: Can you send me your settings? I've seen that SSB can cause bad artifacts, maybe you are using that - or something else that causes issues.

@dj_szpajda: If you are using SSB stereo, could you try with it turned off? There's clearly something wrong with it, and I have no idea what it is yet. (It should NEVER cause Windows reboots, but you still haven't answered if that is what you are seeing. And even so I'm still curious if turning it off fixes things.).

I won't be working on things tomorrow, have several meetings. Will continue & try to fix things on Thursday.

OK, so I understand there's supposed to have been some improvement. Good news... There's a slight (4-5% absolute) reduction in CPU usage as reported by Task Manager running Cobalt (my web preset) without the declipper. I still cannot use the declipper at 4096/100% (choppy audio, system locking, etc...).

Question: Did any of the "unnecessary steps" that were removed come from the CLASSIC multiband, or is that code forever locked-in to whatever it is now?

Most of them came from the classic mb actually. So this seems to confirm that they had very little effect on performance - it's still good that they are gone because it simplifies things.

You could try out the new MB again - I optimized it quite a lot.

I'm confused about this because I really don't know what happens :( SSB works without composite clipper and sound is much more strange then normal mpx.
Last stable 7.40 works without any problems in all modes, last beta not :(

At the moment I'm testing on other PC win7 64 and FM out arrtifacts are smaller but SSB mode don't work.

new observations in Power Bass & Power Highs. In last version bass power does not work, only Higs work. When i turn difference on Power Highs, they join together with Power Bass. When i used only Power Bass and turn difference, nothing happens, only silence, even for large values.

Can you *please* answer these 3 questions:
1. Does Stereo Tool crash, or the whole Windows OS?
2. Was SSB enabled when it happened?
3. How long did it run (approx) before it crashed? A second, an hour, a day?

Perhaps it confirms. I don't know. There's still the issue of how you judge what is optimized, and whether or not altering your process to test for normal usage scenarios vs. filters in isolation would reveal better performance for cache-limited (< 2MB per core) systems. It may be that 1MB cache is just insufficient no matter what, but as time has passed, there's less and less incentive to focus on 1MB systems. I still think you should change the testing methodology though.

I can attempt to try the new MB. It will probably be fine, so long as I don't attempt to use loudness. That was somewhat the point of Pusher - a fairly clean, but relatively loud setting that doesn't use loudness / advanced clipper.

Edit: Turning off declipper and oversampling in Bojcha's newest preset has the CPU load at about 70%, which is approximately where the classic MB + Advanced Clipper goes. The preset only uses 7 bands though, but perhaps that is enough. I think I had tried with 9 bands + Advanced Clipper, and that didn't go so w..w..w..w...we...we...we..well...l...l...l.
