I downloaded Stereotool standalone and installed it. I run the program and set the input to the correct port...BUT, all the graphics start to move as if its running by itself...BUT there are no other programs running...So its playing totally by itself???

What is the correct input port? If you want it to process audio from another program, you need to use Virtual Audio Cable (VAC, paid) or VB Cable (donationware). I'm guessing that now it's processing its own output.

Hm, and what do you hear? If you're recording from VAC-1 and playout the output to the sound card, then all should be fine...

Hm. No idea what can do that - except a crashed sound card driver maybe... It's not a repeating and continuously getting louder or changing sound? Then it would indicate some audio signal loop.
