Good grief. That's what you get when you're multi-tasking... Thank you for pointing that out. We've also decided to put XP in the box and take out 7.

On page 20 if the manual, do I want that box checked or unchecked? I don't know much about ASIO...

It sounds like something that you can keep disabled (so the setting enabled; what's the default?)

Anyway, if it works it's probably fine.

OK... The installation option says "Disable audio app use of Monitor Mixer and Patchbay Router". Here's what it says in the documentation:

ASIO Options
Checking this box will disable your DAW application’s ASIO drivers from using the Monitor Mixer and Router, allowing you to use your DAW
application’s internal routing.

I don't know how that was set, as I did not install the card. As it shows a check mark in the box on the installation page, I would assume that checked is the default.

However... Now that the card is installed, I can not view that page. Instead, I can only view the M-Audio Delta Control Panel. Under the "hardware" tab is a box saying "Disable ASIO direct monitoring". Default is unchecked.

Well, anything that's turned off reduces the chance that things go wrong so... If it works keep those things off.

Dead again, but it is definitely the sound card. If I can just find a Marian Trace... Would the Juli@ be worth pursuing?

This is becoming a real PITA...

How do you know that it's the sound card??? And have you tried to contact the company that makes it? (By the way, this was in ASIO mode??? That's very surprising...)

An ESI should be good, but you need to do some tilt correction and the end result will be slightly less strictly clipped. Which means that you might need to reduce the level by a few % (probably 0.5 dB or so).

By the way, is there by any chance a 192 kHz capable sound card built into the pc? I know it's not balanced etc, but I'm getting pretty good results with the Realtek chip in my laptop (!).

It was the card, as the program was just sitting there waiting for audio. I could unplug the left or right input and kill the card. After amusing myself, watching the card work and then not work, I tried restarting the card. That seems to make it behave, but that's not good enough for me.

I'm looking into the Florida source. which is just up the road a few hours. If I had the time, I'd drive up there!

I haven't tried the Realtek chip on my motherboard. It'll take some digging to find out what sample rate it has.
