Here's an oddity... The preset I use is labeled "Phil 3". But, when I reboot the computer, ST comes back with a previous preset "Phil 1". It did this in November, too... Weird.
It stores the settings when you close it or minimize it. If you never did that and the pc rebooted, then you'll get back to the latest saved settings. So this is not related to the problems.

Not yet. I've been putting out other Monday morning fires, but will do so in a few minutes.

Not knowing what precisely to look for, here are a couple of screen shots. There is nothing listed for when ST failed, only for when I rebooted it. Let me know what you'd like to see.

I reloaded Phil 3. Saved it. Closed the screen. Rebooted the computer. It came back as Phil 1.

I have never seen software cause an Event ID 129 error. If you are seeing Event ID 129 errors in your event logs, then you should start investigating the storage .May have a faulty SSD. Problem is definitely
NOT ST.

Thank you. That's the reason I posted those screen shots so that you guys could spot things I overlook.

Please answer all questions or it will remain vague. When you say that ST didn't respond to commands, does that means that the rest of Windows was still working or was the whole pc dead?

Also, last time you said you had this error (which indicates power issues), am I right that this didn't happen this time? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/462 ... event-task#

Smells like ssd/hdd and/or PSU.
- Use good quality PSU with 80Plus gold sertificate. Don't look at wattage - it means nothing.
- Check for motherboard bios update and turn off C1 and other (if any) "states"
- Don't use Kingston SSDs!
- Update/check motherboard/chipset drivers.
- Run Memory Check! Use Memtest USB version. Burn on USB and boot. http://www.memtest.org/

The problem is that all of this will take time - so you need a 2nd pc anyway to be able to do this. So, take another pc and plug it in instead... Then you can investigate what's wrong with this one. My guess is that you'll have the same issue if you don't run Stereo Tool at all. (But please answer the question about what exactly didn't respond first - that should also indicate a lot).

By the way: Just out of curiosity: Is this a new pc or an older one? Consumer or industrial? And if it's close to a transmitter: How well is it shielded against EMC?
