Thanks Bojcha, I was taking the instructions a little too literally. Got it to start with a Windows shortcut now, and it can play the streams noted by you and Hans.

Apologies for a bit of lobbying, but for my AAA- & alternative-calibrated ears, it sure will be nice when this ST version can play this stream: http://bhammountain.serverroom.us:4376 ;)

Hm, I cannot open it in VLC... And not in Stereo Tool either.

hmm strange.. since it's using normal shoutcast. Plays normaly in winamp. So something in VLC does not like it.

edit: might be this version of shoutcast 1.9.9beta - I think that is some non-public version used for some special things.

Hmm, I use Winamp to open that URL, which in turn is what I have used to teach myself ST. No worries, thanks for trying it.

ETA: this stream is being created in SAM.

http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 32-022.exe
- Automatically detects VLC (no need to run from the VLC directory anymore)
- DOS logging window not shown anymore
- Sample rate and number of channels are taken from the stream
- FM Transmitter Calibration settings added (I see that some settings are not shown or shown disabled, will fix that)
- Several small fixes (Startup in system tray, non-standard peak smoothing setting in MB)

This version should more or less work, the most important thing that needs to be done is making the time before the stream is restarted if there's no signal coming in configurable.

Has anyone experimented on how low delay is achievable with VLC?

Many streams arrive in bursts of about 1 second. So at least with the those you can't get very low. Also you should probably enable fm transmitter synchronization or speed adjustments to avoid problems due to small differences in sample rates. Which requires a larger output buffer size.

In the Beta 20 the control MB -> Non-Standard -> Peak Smoothing, when you want to adjust, set maximum value to 1 ms. and you can not put more value.
Also, except RMS Block, grayed as if they were disabled.

@ hvz: Could you give a little more detail than Non-Standard Controls?
See this post: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4989&start=134

In RMS mode most settings are indeed disabled. 3 of them are for Peak mode, one is for RMS mode.
Ok

I'll check the other reported issues.
Fix in beta 22

When I choose VLC input, there are mirror-frequencies in the MPX, and the pilot is not perfectly protected anymore. No matter if MPX-clipper is on or off. Good to see when SSB is turned on. Am I doing something wrong? O_o
