From the announcement in the preset section...
Quote:
... The result of this was not usable for attack behavior because it caused weird and ugly effects that are very different from what other compressors sound like, so I could only use it for release - attack is still based on actual sample levels, which in RMS mode are also normalized....
Does this mean the old RMS didn't have smoothing on the attack? If that's true then that could be the reason why the old RMS sounded so dynamic. The sharp (unsmoothed) attack could shape the transients and produces shorter transients. This is probably also why I was advised to reduce the RMS block size to improve the attack behaviour, although that reduces the release smoothing too. Separate attack release smoothing settings could fix the problem. I don't know exactly how it works but I can imagine it being something like this:

What are the internal maximum settings (I mean if one alters the dsp_stereo_tool.ini directly) for RMS block size and Ahead? I think 40ms and 4ms are a bit small. Maybe 10 times more would be sufficient.

What was the old RMS block size or in other words what block size is equal to the old RMS style ?
Looks like MB is moving more fast than before
Also agree with the Ahead and RMS block size

Or one more slider called multiplier ? for the RMS block size from 1 to 20 ?
and the option may be from 0.1 to 100 ms ?

Windows stand alone: ----://www.stereotool.com/download/stereo_tool ... 32-018.exe BUILD FAILED
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 32-018.exe
Windows VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 32-018.dll

- Improved multi-touch screen handling
- New version notification: Removed from GML plugin
- Added R128 normalization to GML plugin version
- Improved VMware detection (added param, and let it be set to VMware, Native, Unknown - where Unknown is automatically changed to either if it can be determined reliably.)
- Metering: MPX power added
- BS412 memory usage reduced

Since yesterday's stand alone build failed:
Windows stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 32-019.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 32-019.exe

- Using different names and scales for the new compressor settings (under non-standard). Behavior is identical though.
- Added MULTIPATH protection settings. Now similar to Stokkemask but with some settings not configurable. Tests needed...
- Added hysterisis when changing buffer size to avoid (or at least reduce) Juli@ driver crashes. If the buffer size is changed, only one restart is performed per 250 ms. Change was needed to avoid Juli@ ASIO crashes, but I've implemented it now for all input and output methods. Waiting for test results Note: This is a workaround to reduce the chance of an ASIO driver crash caused by an error in the Juli@ sound card driver. It greatly reduces the chance of crashes but doesn't (and cannot) completely protect against it.

@Hans I have a "special" request.! Is it possible to rename the main .exe file on installation?
The problem is when someone, like me, is running 2 ST from the same pc, one WEB and one Radio, so when i need to update there is a confusion on settings.
So, if it is possible to give or change the filename on istallation.

Thanks!

You can rename it afterwards.. Or even just copy the .exe to a different file name.

I have never seen an installer that lets you rename the executable file name...

And i wonder why you use two separate programs ?
Why not you use one time and for FM you choose FM card and for web stream you use Normal output card for web stream ?
Why you torture you computer two times ? Only because different settings ? Man wake up :)

You might think that in the installer, ask how many instances you want to install (BBP style). A minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4, say,
Default install one instance.
The first instance is, for example, "stereotool.exe", the second "stereotool_2.exe" the third "stereotool_3.exe" and the fourth "stereotool_4.exe", in combination with a ini file that is for each .exe

Hi Hans,

It would be very useful for those who use more than one instance, first, not to copy 2 times the executable every time you change version, second, if you accidentally start stereo tool multiple times.
