Red button in Mac way means: closing window, not closing application!
Really? Then how do you get the window back if you want to see it again?
In that case into menubar goto "File - open recent" to get it back.

When you close a window in Windows (e.g. XP, 7 and others) and you click on the X at right site, your whole program will quit, or in case of a web browser your active window if you have two or more windows opened. In case of one, the program quits anyway.

Mac: In the past CMD button at the keyboard had the logo of Apple, I don't know why they changed that, because it is already used since the 1980's. In Netherlands still people say appeltje Q to quit a program, or appeltje C and V, copy and paste.
For you Hans, in Dutch  http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command

Microsoft use ctrl for that, because they forgot to make a Windows button at the keyboard at the time they started to produce Windows ;)

I hope I made something clear.

When i look at Skype it closes the window when i click the red button. When i click the skype icon again it shows the window again. I must quit it by choosing Stop Skype from the top menu. Or right click on icon and choose stop.
But when i look at FileZilla on the mac it really quits the application when i click the red button.

The new version opens up with the menu bar hidden, it get's vissible when i move it downward. Then it crashes when i try to resize the window. CMD+Q is not working to close the program. And when i quit it with clicking the red button it is still active in the tray.
What do you mean by 'menu bar', the top bar? So it opens outside the visible area of the screen? It shouldn't do that, I'm telling it to open at the default location (before that was (0,0) which caused exactly the issue that you're describing).

The word Stereo_tool is the menu bar. So it's visible also at your screen dump. The only thing what's missed is a pull down way to stop the program, but Hans knows already :D

Could it be that the mac somehow stored where to open it? If I open it here it just opens at a location near the center, with proper title bar etc. directly visible.

Just to make sure: You did really update? New version is a .app directory which can be clicked in Finder to start Stereo Tool directly, without a terminal window. That wasn't the case in the previous build.

Skype does the same thing in Windows. I hate that :).

Yes this is with the .app program. It could be that it stored the location from the previous programs. Do you have any idea where i can find that?

Here the same. Almost in the middle, but a bit to the left and more than a bit up.

The settings file is ~/.stereotool.rc
