The only thing that "center bass" does is: It acts as if the "phase" slider is set to 0 for bass frequencies below 200 Hz, sliding to 1 at 400 Hz. This only has an effect on bass that's in anti-phase between the two channels, which might not get played back correctly if you're using a single bass speaker.

If the bass gets stronger when using this, I assume that you are using a single bass speaker, and that the music that you have already contains a phase shift on the bass frequencies?

To me the new Stereo Boost feature is one of the most significant enhancement in Stereo tool. I hear far less artifacts on files that have poor L-R encoding.
I'm trying to distinguish the difference between the "maximum stereo amplification" and the "max stereo level" settings. I wasn't able to fully understand it from your description.
The way I understand it the boost strength amplifies the L-R signal and "max stereo amplification" is the threshold above which no further L-R amplification takes place. So on audio with low separation it increases separation and on audio with high separation is leaves it as is. So what is left for the max stereo level step to process?
