Yes, here we go again :)

2 changes:
- Very very slightly improved behavior of "Airy Highs" (in the clipper). Highs now sound crisper and less 'tonal', the old implementation "liked" tones too much, which could in some cases cause highs to sound a bit like in low quality MP3s.
- Added Phase Equalizer. Most people won't know what this is or what to do with it, but there are a few that do and I hope to get some feedback from them. Warning: Use only at high latencies! Only available in Extreme Tweaking mode, if you don't know what you're doing you can really destroy the sound with this!

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 11-003.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 11-003.exe
VST: http://www.stereotool.com/download/vst_ ... 11-003.dll (not available).

Warning: Phase equalizer CPU load is pretty high (depending on the shape you draw; the more difference between the lowest and highest point, the higher it will be).

BUG IN THE PHASE EQUALIZER: There's a filter after it that removes sounds that it doesn't expect. Which weakens the sound in some (probably many) cases. So, DO NOT USE IT for now! Unless you turn ALL other filters off (that turns the cleanup off).

I will move the filter to BEFORE the AGC tonight, to get rid of this and probably also increasing its effect.

Test it.. I did nt Enable the Phase shaping, but, as i heard the Airy highs, i notice change on all Vocals. Its not clear and alive as before. The change on Highs its slightly noticeable.

Hans, congrats to 7.10.

7.11? Never stop improving things, ha? :)

I like the new AGC, way better than the old one. One suggestion i have: i use a very low band upspeed, because i dont like when its going louder and softer during quiet sections. But with the next song i play, and i know this next song is very soft, the AGC takes ages to come up again. Could you make a button next to the general AGC display, which set it immediately to the correct volume? Not within a millisecond, one second (or 1/2s ) attack would be enough for me. ;)

What do u say?

The known causes of volume reductions are gone now. Also, the filter is now executed just after the AGC.
Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 11-004.exe

@Chris: Haven't checked voices yet. Will do that tomorrow.

Hans, do you intend to update the FM RADIO STATIONS presets (FM stereo, FM stereo soft etc) to reflect all the ST changes? I'd imagine a lot of people new to ST will head there as a starting point, and those presets are pretty dated. First impressions....

Speaking of preset development, the Orban boxes are mainly built on five compressor band presets (sometimes with a lot of B4/B5 coupling), so it's interesting very few of the new ST presets are using only 5 bands. Also some of the Orban presets use B1/B2 Xover up at 200 Hz, yet many of the ST presets have 2 or 3 bands covering that same region. Having only one band for that region (or even a bit higher) and relying on the bass clipper seems to produce some constant, nice rounded, but not extreme bass results for softer AC or female skewed formats etc. Even the old 8200 did that quite smoothly if run gently. Let me guess, Bochja you've got one in the works ?

Just A/B'ing today latest ST against BBP for the first time in while. Really brings home the recent improvements in ST. There is now such an obvious difference in FM broadcast performance between those two products. Outstanding Hans.

I'm seeing huge volume effects (try playing a sweep through it) that I didn't expect and don't want either... That makes it really difficult to say anything useful.... :(

Can you give me a song and preset where this happens? I've just processed 7 minutes of audio (pieces 5 different tracks) and subtracted the output of version 7.10 and 7.11_004 from each other, and there's nearly no audio in the result when there's singing. Sometimes there is a bit though. But the difference on highs is really much bigger.

Others: Can anyone else confirm this?
