Stereo Tool

Hello Hans,
Every time I load stereo tool vst I keep having to re enter the the activation key.It does not seem to remember it has been activated.

Can you send me the contents of your VST .ini file? It's called vst_stereo_tool.ini (assuming that you didn't rename the DLL), and it's located in C:\Documents and Settings\username on WinXP or C:\Users\username\ on Windows Vista and 7.

I've heard this a few times before with the VST version but I still don't know why this happens.

By the way - is this only with 7.10 or have you been using older versions before where it did work?

Hi Bob,

No doubt you are enjoying the 09 composite processing - greatly looking forward to Hans ST implementation (and undo etc). Top of its class, and economically on a pc. How good is that? How are you finding SSB compared to standard DSB in your market terrain? Was a lot of talk about it when it first hit the O hardware boxes, but it's been pretty quite lately. Thought we'd have more feedback if its producing significant benefits ?

I think that some modification is already there in, for example, O.9. Something bit more different.
Just cutting USB and doubling LSB is not 'enough good', i think.

Thing is, SSB composite is only usefull in a specific type of terrain since is lowers multipath distortion, however some receivers somehow don't like to only get half the stereo carrier.
I found SSB is usefull in specific terrain, however it for sure reduces fidelity !

It's just a feature wich normaly (especialy in Netherlands with our flat terrain) should be disabled !

I actually have a very new idea about multipath distortion, however I'm still not 100% sure that I completely understand the cause of it correctly. Anyway, it cannot be implemented in the current clipper, you NEED to have a composite clipper for it.

My new idea WILL affect fidelity btw. SSB should not - although it might depending on your receiver.

Well, i was at the Orban booth last IBC, and i clearly heard difference between the both (SSB or DSB), it was noticable on a receiver they used in their Orban trailer.
The tuner (I thought is was a Sony brand) could be the cause, so i advise to disable SSB if you don't need it !

Multipath distortion is caused by several different signal paths of the same station reaching the receiver, those different travelling lengths have different phases when they reach the receiver, and thus could result in signal loss.
This phenomena is called multipath distortion, there are some inpressive vids on u tube wich demonstrate the use of SSB in those areas wich are familiar with these effects.
