Come by and visit me next time you're in the area! Then you can also use my swings :)

My new office is the one on the right (the guy in that office on the photo went to another place in the same building).
My old office is the one just above the stairs.

HVZ,

How do I work there? It would seem a great way to relax.

BETA052:
- Identical to BETA050 and BETA051
- CPU load reduction of 4% compared to 051 - 3% coming from AZIMUTH correction, 1% coming from the new Multiband (measured using PhantomFM's 80s preset).

When I was looking at the performance difference between version 050 and 051 I saw some other performance related things that I didn't like, and I've improved those.

Total improvement is about 4% on my system. The improvements in the new Multiband compressor - I replaced occurrences of 'divss' by 'rcpss', when needed combined with a 'mulss' - might actually have more effect on older systems - the compiler doesn't automatically perform them because "newer systems don't need them anymore" - but I still clearly see a difference on my i7, older systems (P4 etc) might even show a bigger difference. rcpss is less accurate than divss but it's smooth (so it doesn't sound bad) and accurate enough.

Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 04-052.exe

 Thought, you're working in a record-studio-like atmosphere with thick walls and damping material all around, but this looks like you're on holiday ;)

I'm going to ask a question that's way over my head, at least for the moment, while I do some research (after sleep), but:

Why are you using the scalar instructions instead of the packed / parallel instructions?

I use the parallel instructions in most of the performance sensitive code, but not everything is suitable to be parallellized.

In this specific case, the compressor, each sample depends on the samples before it. So I cannot process the next sample until I've processed the current - that's why I cannot process samples in parallel (cannot is a big word, it might be possible to find some tricks or to parallellize parts of the code. I just haven't seen them yet.)

Hm, compared to which other beta? The sound should be the same as in 050 and 051, otherwise I did something wrong (even if it sounds better it would still indicate a bug).
