Because there are far more characters! Not just German.
The free world had decided to defeat the Germans in two World Wars until unconditional surrender.
Et voilà ! (old German exclamation)
And now has the free world to pay the price.

And the rule : more bands , more flexibility !
You don't have to tell me.

I would like to have the option for more bands (at least to keep 10 bands).
I am not part of the 99 percent !
More flexibility  higher complexity !

More options to do things wrong (and if you know some of my presets than you know, that I know what I am talking about).
It is extremely difficult to handle 10 (or even more dynamic bands).
Brain surgery is also very complex and complicated, but a few expert people can do it perfectly to work miracles.
But I fear that the new multiband will have less than 10 bands (because Hans behaves as if he has not read my question about the bands for the new multiband).

Best solution would be:
A new multiband module ("Advanced Multiband" ? - with less bands) as an addition and not as a replacement for the old.
And the old multiband could be renamed to "Dynamic EQ" plus additional options for even more than 10 bands !?

I must tell you that Hans said .. let the new multiband is a fact , then how many bands is the most easy thing :)
And he is right , right ?
So we must be patient man .
Believe me they will be 10 at the beginning .. and we will have a version with 10 .. Then may be they will be custom decided .. by the user i guess :)

Now it sounds in my ears as if the third World War has already started in my neighbourhood.
No ! :D
Only some kids (early adapters) with firecrackers !

So I have to leave this place now for a shower.

Good Luck and Best Wishes to everyone for the new year:

@michi: I've read it - but this discussion has surfaced so many times that I didn't respond now.

In short:
- For eq, more bands is good
- For mb, more bands more easily leads to large differences in level between base and harmonic frequencies, which sounds a bit like distortion. Also, in many cases you don't want to content of the audio to change too much (loud voices that are suppressed a lot), all of this works better with less bands. But I agree: The current MB gives a very 'special' sound that people may like, so for now my plan it to keep it and add a new one beside the current. Number of bands will be configurable (even if only because I have no idea right now how many bands would be best, and it probably also depends on the type of music and the sound you want to achieve).

Stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 02-006.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 02-006.exe

RDS encoding should be good now for all characters in Latin-1 (ISO something).
Aqua preset from Gpagliaroli (or something like that, difficult name) added.
No other changes that I can remember...

Happy new year to all, and as I already wrote in another thread, be careful with fireworks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv_CmrRZljA :o :o :D
