Stereo Tool

There is one issue I've been having with the declipper in that it seems to mistake square waves as "clipped" and therefore ends up messing with them. Is there a way to stop this behaviour or is it just the way declipper works?

For example, play this song using Stereo Tool with the declipper on (you'll have to load the video file into Winamp or use the standalone version of course):

...and listen carefully to how between 0:35 and 0:40 sounds with it on and off. You will notice an artifact there as declipper tampers with the audio when it's not actually clipped at all. Is there a way to fix this without compromising the effectiveness of declipper itself? Setting the "Stop declipping if apparently not clipped" slider all the way to the right does not even work.

That's the thing: There is no way to distinguish between a deliberate square wave and a clipped sound that's turned into a square wave. So there's no solution for this, unfortunately.

Except for one thing maybe: A slower peak level response. I guess I should make that configurable in a future version of the declipper.

Well, question is how many tracks you have like this?

I have many square wave tracks but fortunately not all of them are negatively impacted by de-clipper. I just found it weird that it kicks in on some of them but not others. Usually it's only part of a track rather than through the entire song.
