BBP does this by having different base color schemes (green/blue/red) for each different instance. Could do this, or some other way of quickly seeing which instance is which ?

Hm, interesting. How does that work? Just the first one you start is blue etc., or do you have separate copies on your harddisk and have you configured the color for each version yourself?

The BBP installation process asks how many instances you want: 1 -4 . It creates just the one program directory and one EXE, but separate config files; eg - breakawaybroadcast_2.ini. The logo/icon/tray colors are set/fixed automatically. Always green for 1st instance, blue for 2nd, red for 3rd etc.
