Non-Phase Linear 30Hz.

That looks like it still starts slightly earlier, but my understanding is that filters like that should start a bit early. Looks like the filtering is still weak at 30, but then has a steep slope, much steeper than the phase linear filter, and even a bit steeper than the 2x that you all are showing.

Hm, interesting. But with artifacts I don't mean the passband ripple but other artifacts (chopper like sounds). It could be though that by chaining 2 ST's that doesn't happen (I'm not really sure - will do some tests later).

Still, I think a steeper phase linear highpass filter will require more latency.

Alternatively it could be that I'm doing something wrong in my highpass filter (need different coefficients). Actually, thinking about it, that's very likely. Will check. Adding this to todo list

Non-Phase Linear 30Hz.

That looks weird. Sure it is set at 30Hz?
Seems it starts at 40Hz and is approx down 12dB at 30Hz and about 30dB down at 20Hz. Not to bad.

What Bojcha suggested by stacking 2 x a filter is not really the best solution, I know it sounds strange but you have to really calculate filters. You cannot really add them up.
If you add filters up you will get alot of ripple in the area where you start filtering. Also the -3dB point will move and the steepness of filtering will be different.

Yes. it is at 30Hz. And non-phase linear filter is not problem. this filtering is very usefull in lowLatency modes since phase-linear totally fails at that very same modes.

Hmm, True! but.. phase-linear HPF in ST is 'weak' (esspecially at 2048 Latency mode, and less) that simple stacking 2 of them in raw are still working very good!
No ripple (or still very small)! You can see on Eldorado's pics better. No ANY new artifacts, or again very small ones.

Can be really different when it's done inside ST then simple chaining two of them.
But certenly meaning that this phase-linear HPF filter can be done much better.

What is the current latency ?

I think you made a typo here... It should just be

- Phase linear highpass filter: Make steeper

8-)

This happens when you start using too much clipping

http://radioactive.blog.nl/binnenland/2 ... geschakeld

For the non Dutch. The tower was build in 1960 and went down today due to a fire.
To make things worse another antennatower in Holland was also shut down due to a fire today making only 20% FM, and also a bit less DVB-T coverage in Holland today.

offtopic : WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF FIRE ON THE FM/TV/CELLULAR TOWER!!????

fire becuse of broken RF cables ? or what?

( maiby some ex-worker decided to blow the towers becuse he lost his job ...?! )

Only too much .. or better say, most clipping is in Omnia.9 and maker is in NL.. and now we know that is near location .. So what's your point !?

:D

O believe me, almost ALL stations here clip and distort like hell. Well they did until this afternoon anyway. (Ok, as far as I could see I'm only missing one station where I live, all the others are still broadcasting at the frequencies where I expect them).
