7.84 has a Multiband Density slider on each MB1 band but when I set the slider from all the way down to all the way up, there's next to no difference in the sound. The amount of gain reduction changes dramatically, from nothing to slammed. If anything, turning it all the way up results in slightly less of what I'm trying to increase (I have my band coupling set to 0%). Part of my processing technique involves getting the gain reduction amount to be equal (averaged out across several songs) on all bands and while this slider does that on the metering, the sound doesn't seem to be following. I'm assuming that this slider is similar to the "drive" setting on other processors. I haven't had much luck on MB2 so getting this to work on MB1 is my preference. |

Hi Bob53Bob, I am guessing here, but I suspect that the density control makes the compressor think that it is being driven harder (without actually driving it harder) which will mean that it tends to act faster/harder increasing the density of the sound. If you drive it really hard, it will tend to smear/muddy the sound - a little extra drive can make the sound more solid, too much may not be helpful. Just guessing though Bob! Bob |
