Post subject:  Using a DDS Exciter Vs. Analog Modulation Exciter

Hello!

I'm planning to buy a Direct Digital Synthesis exciter, but I would like to know if there's big difference in audio and signal quality using this type of exciters? Have you experienced any difference in audio with Stereo Tool?

Thanks

If you use digital 192kHz output from soundcard and transmitter also have input for that (many does not!) it should be very good.
Also RF is much better (narrow) on those trasmitters.

I suspect your question is not going to be that easy to answer because of the number of variables involved.
As an example of what I mean, would you consider a bad DDS exciter product be better or worse than an excellent analog design?
You might find that the best way is to compare the specs of the unit, but even then, some people may have a preference based on the subjective way the exciter 'sounds'?

Does that really make a difference??

Well that's Direct to channel system. So from starting sample rate it multiplies that to final FM freq.

If there is no digital input there is A/D convertor inside, so another not needed step.

Here is a document I remember reading this some time ago (see the pdf at the bottom of the page):

My earlier point relates to this in someways. Surely just because it says 'DDS' on the box doesn't mean that one should necessarily think that it is 'better'?

Ofcourse it's better.
