Our PC up the site isn't top notch so it wont handle 4.10 or any other.
Assuming that you're using Loudness, version 4.10 at quality Low sounds better than version 3.40 at quality High... That might help a bit.
For a list of things you can do to greatly reduce the CPU load in version 4.10 with little effect on the sound quality, see
http://help.stereotool.com/cpu_usage.shtml . Just combining Limiting and Loudness should already reduce the CPU load by about 20%... And the other settings help a bit too.
Almost everythings is improved in version 4.10 compared to 3.40: The pre limiter works much better, the Final Limiter has no pumping effects anymore, the Loudness filter is much stronger and sounds much cleaner, and the stereo widener sounds much warmer and causes far less artifacts. Switching to 4.10 will really pay off in both output volume and sound quality.
If the CPU load reduction tips on the URL above don't suffice, turn Loudness off and overdrive the Final Limiter instead. That will also give a loud volume, at a far lower CPU load than when using Loudness, with some artifacts - but still far less than in version 3.40, and I think at a lower CPU usage.
