Can anyone explain what the pre amplifier adjustment does? In reading the help section it says it is for adjusting the input signal for proper level before any processing, I get this. Is there a correct procedure for adjusting this to make sure it is set correctly? I have the input level to the audio card peaking around -6 and have adjusted the input level in ST for peaks hitting 0. Should I be watching a different level somewhere as I adjust? My second question is this, I periodically have the output meters flash red. Is this a problem or normal and what does it mean when the flash red. I don't hear anything in the audio. By the way I am using ASIO on a Marion Trace Alpha and composite output. |

The pre-amp setting set's the gain after the restoration filters . The red meters indicate that there is a peak (even a single sample can triger them) is above 0db. The red meters should not appear is you have remove all peaks enavled in the clipper section. But in the latest betas this function does not work as well as it should. That is a bug that I have to report to Hans. |

Thanks mpex2006km for the reply. Will ignore the output meters going red for now. So the Pre Amplifier adjusts the level after restoration filters, where in the chain am I looking for correct adjustment. Maybe the AGC levels? How hard are people driving the AGC in general? |

Hi dahart, It's actually quiet different, you can check some presets. Main purpose for ACG is to correct different sound levels on your files. |

Pre Amp basically determines how much the AGC can 'raise' the level. All filters (if used with 0 dB Drive) in ST are designed to lower the level; Pre Amp gives you a loud signal to start with. |
