Post subject: | AF Codes for AM Frequencies in Region 2 |
Those of us in Region 2 need AM channels from 530 kHz to 1700 kHz on 10 kHz steps for AF codes. RDS for low power FM translators that repeat AM stations have good use, as there may be more than one Trnaslator, and we need to list the AM frequency. Too bad US cars don't do anything with the codes. Ted |

Is it possible for this to work? I run an FM AM combo. |

Ow. I'm just guessing here that the codes are the same (so 531 = 530, 540 = 540, 549 = 550 etc.). Which would mean that I can simply change the numbers in the dropdown list that I'm showing, without having to change anything to the encoding itself. For now, you could just choose the number that (in an analysis tool) shows you the correct value. Just guessing here: 531 -> 530 540 -> 540 549 -> 550 558 -> 560 ... I don't know how useful this is, since AM stations can't broadcast a PI code so the receiver cannot see if the signal that it receives really is the same station. |

http://www.interactive-radio-system.com ... andard.pdf See page 42. By the way, some AM (MW) frequencies (those above 1602) cannot even be encoded this way! I'm guessing that the LW part is also different in the US. So far I couldn't find an RDBS spec. (Hm. I could just connect an analyzer and let it check things in RDBS mode... -> Edit: No, RDSSpy only supports RDS and not RDBS, apparently ![]() By the way, (1602 - 531) / 9 * 10 + 530 = 1720. So all the codes upto 1720 should be encodable this way, assuming that there aren't more LW freqs. |

I have just implemented this, but I'm still not sure if the numbers are correct and I cannot find a spec anywhere. If anyone who has a decoder that shows AM AF freqs wants to check, please do! It will be available in the next beta version (7.83-006 probably). Since LW doesn't appear to exist in the US the numbers could be completely wrong! |
