Post subject: | Echo |
I just installed the program and I can't get rid of the echo. I'm using the program real time. I have tried two different sound cards. I've seen a few different posts regarding this but could not find an answer Thanks |

By the way it's not the delayed sound about 50ms behind (latency) it's a low level Echo after that. |

Did you check all routing on soundcard? Does that happen if you connect it on some amplifier (since you use it for ham)? |

I was using a single Asus U7 sound card. I decided to use the Asus for the mic and then the sound card on the motherboard for the output. No more echo. There must be crosstalk using the same card for input and output. The latency was unacceptable however. I have just ordered a Behringer UMC202 USB audio interface for the input and hopefully it will just the ticket. Thanks |

Almost everyone uses the same sound card for input and output, so that's not it. But, in many cases the default routing sends the input signal to the output if you do nothing at all... Do you still hear a sound on the output if you don't run Stereo Tool? If so, then if you start Stereo Tool you will hear that sound PLUS the output from Stereo Tool. |

I had the same experience; I can start ST initially with no echo but then messing with, say ASIO settings causes the echo too. (I have no ASIO so I'm going to stop doing that) Rebooting cures it of course. ST is now set to restart immediately on reboot of Windows as well, that is fine. |

Well I tried to load a different preset but it changed the soundcard input, now all I get is "BAD DEVICE ID." Restarting sound card, reinstalling ST, none help. There must be a setting somewhere I'm missing... |

Do you see any sound cards in the pull down menu? Can you select another one? Microsoft default something should always work. To remove all the settings, remove the Stereo Tool .ini file - in c:\users\<username>\ |

Thanks again Hans - I couldn't select any cards. Removing the .ini does the trick. The 'echo' in my case was ST being open in more than one place...! |
