G'day everyone! Does anyone know a way I can make transients a lot quieter without crushing them with the advanced limiter? I'd like to do this mainly just because a lot of 80s snares tend to stick out a lot in the mix. All comments are appreciated. ![]() |

And... because they stick out a lot in the mix. I think I made myself pretty clear? If you want an example of what I'm after, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqEOZ ... BVWVhHWDQ/.Not an 80s song, but has a strong snare punch. I'm not really looking for something as squashed as that, but reasonably similar. I used the 'limit' controls in the 'multiband compressor' tab to squashed the snare out of the mix a bit, but it definitely didn't sound the same. |

You could also do some singleband limiting. That will also get rid of some punch. (Note: I have not yet listened to the recording, am working on my laptop so it wouldn't be very useful). |

@Bojcha - Interesting, what is the calculated dBr of this test? Also interested to know how much work is being done in the MB vs clipper? |

Yeah, ended up doing this actually. Really liked the sound of the analog singleband limiter on 1.0 speed so I left it. Sounds awesome to me!
