Post subject:  Stereo Tool 7.45 BETA

CHANGES:
- Natural Dynamics worked slightly different in version 7.43 and 7.44, and it turns out that it sounded worse (the bass is boosted much longer, causing excessive bass). Sound of version 7.42 is restored.
- New stereo widener added, based on techniques used in some famous stereo wideners since the 1980's. For now (I will change this) only available in Extreme Tweakers mode. See below.

Windows 32 bit:
Windows stand alone: http://www.stereotool.com/download/ster ... 45-001.exe
Winamp DSP: http://www.stereotool.com/download/dsp_ ... 45-001.exe

The new stereo widener takes the L-R signal and adds it back to the audio with a delay. The delay and the strength of the added signal (between nothing and the original signal strength) are configurable.

There are a few improvements to this that I have not yet implemented:
1. The bass should not be delayed. It's useless and might lead to phase cancellation issues.
2. If the L-R signal is already very strong compared to the L+R signal, the delayed signal should not be added. I basically need to make a limiter based on the L-R / L+R strength, which can also push the level back to 0 in case of already wide stereo - delaying the audio if the stereo is very strong can cause unpleasant effects and will destroy the intended very strong stereo in the input signal.

So its basically trying to emulate StereoMaxx. Now whats left to add is 222a :) I like 222a more to be honest, I find it more classy and not so much "in your face" like StereoMaxx.

I am really curious how this stereo enhancer will sound like. Time to install a new test computer. Good test songs could be 1960's songs. California dreamin' The Mamas and the Papas for example. More stereo you can't get ;)

It's called Stereo Delay and it's under the Stereo settings. But you need to set the GUI mode to 'Extreme Tweaker'.

The 222A sounds good if you use it very sublile.
The Reason is the gating circuit, that causes the unit to Switch to "no enhancement", if the Sum/Dif- Ratio in the source material is too high.
This switching is so hard, that some Songs it sounds like somebody is turning the Bypass- swich of the unit 3 times a second On and Off.

Robert Sack

I have this fast question : Is there an ability to make our own buttons or template now? Or changing the colors to the sliders for example ?
Any tips about that please if exist.
May be some little tool to make templates for ST or something else.
