Post subject:  Multicore processing

Hello,
I have tested version 7.31 with Win XP SP3 on a core i5 Computer.
The effect is, that the load at the 4 cores is very different.
The first core is near the maximum, while the others are at 20/30%.
Multicore processing is switched on.
What i´m doing wrong? Is there a way to better the load balance?
Regards,
Robert

What i recommend you us to use "multicore". Also to set Stereo Tool to work only on 2. Reason is that ST anyways use not more then 2 cores, and also you will have another 2 cores totally free. This is for Windows7!

Here is how to do it: You just need to edit your shortcut.

- Right click on ST shortcut and hit "Properities"
- In new window you should edit "Target"
Usual ST target for XP is "C:\Program Files\Stereo Tool\StereoTool.exe" and for Windows7 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stereo Tool\StereoTool.exe"
- For XP put this as target "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start "StereoTool" /affinity 3 "C:\Program Files\Stereo Tool\StereoTool.exe"
Number 3 there determines on what cores will program work, so core 1 and 2. Don't get confused, cores are market as 0,1,2 and 3, meaning core 1,2,3 and 4.
Here is list of possible combinations for quads.

1=Core 0
2=Core 1
3=Core's 0+1
4=Core 2
5=Core's 0+2
6=cores 1+2
7=cores 0+1+2
8=core 3
9=core's 0+3
10=core's 0+1+2+3
1a=core's 1+3
1b=core's 0+1+3
1c=core's 2+3
1d=core's 0+2+3
1e=core's 1+2+3
1f=core's 0+1+2+3

To check is this really work, open Tack Manager right click to StereoTool.exe process and click on "Set Affinity" You should see only core 1 and 2 checked. (0 and 1).

Wow, thank you, i didn´t know this.
But my Windows XP pro (german, SP3) doesn´t seem to know the /affinity" command. It says "unknown option "/affinity""...
Do you have an idea? Or is this command only valid for Windows 7
If i right click the process stereotool.exe - affinity, all 4 cores (0-4) are checked.
Is that coorect?
