Hi all, Looking at using the express version of this card for future builds. My fav by far is the Marian but it can be tough to procure in the USA .I need someone to do a test song using the esi-juli with ST. Song is 3 Dog Nites Black and White, say the 1st 15 seconds and see if the composite overshoots. This song caused severe overshoots with the modded m-audio.The Marian works perfectly,no overshoots. I just want to make sure a properly tilt adjusted esi juli won't cause overshoots and this is an excellent test song.thanks |

Thanks, nice to hear that. I believe the issue was the M-Audio. |

This makes me wonder if the M Audio is the issue or if it's something peculiar to Breakaway Broadcast Processor and this track? I have not had a spare M Audio card since I ventured in the ST direction. But with the mentioned song, the M Audio (even with Leif's modification using bigger caps) when tilt calibrated would consistently overshoot on the first 10 seconds of Black And White using BBP. Yet the Trace Alpha reproduced it with only the normal BBP overshoot of 2-3%. For the record, ST has insanely perfect peak control using the Trace Alpha. Typical program audio on my Inovonics 530 FM monitor looks like a test tone, even though the audio is full of dynamics. Curious to know what kind of mod monitor was used to check for overshoot with the Juli using the test track? |

I'll go ahead and say it....stereo tool with the right sound card configured correctly can perform or out perform an Omnia 11 or 9. |

PLUS it sounds more musical than either 9 0r 11. Maybe we could call it ST 21 (do the math (lol) your processor for the 21st Century... |

If the cleanest dry voice and most musical sound in the playing field comes out of ST on a PC....well, so....SO BE IT!!! |

Quote: If the cleanest dry voice and most musical sound in the playing field comes out of ST on a PC....well, so....SO BE IT!!! I'm from the school of thought that dry voice is the hardest thing to process cleanly. ST flat out rules the roost in that category.

I couldn't agree more. That's why DSP has sounded 'wrong' for the longest time. When we got our first 8200, I vividly recall trying to rewind the clock to a daisy chained 8100. |

8200,a rush to digital processing. Put it on,took it out and sent it back.8100A/XT2 stayed in...Much better flavor. |
